Reach ending scene/credits/etc. discussion *MAJOR SPOILERS*

...That would certainly explain the whole "Jun running off to escort Dr. Halsey and disappearing" thing. At what point did Dr. Halsey become incapable of taking care of herself? It just seemed like a contrived excuse to remove another Noble Team member without much fanfare/gameplay.

Carter sends Jun off not just to take care of Halsey, but to take care of Halsey if required. She's too important to be allowed to fall into covenant hands.

All in all I was very happy with the story and the variety of gameplay. Halsey's journal that came with the legendary edition expands the Halo story, but ultimately is not required to appreciate Noble team's tale.

I have to agree the UNSC AI for the game was pathetic, the AI's on your side none could shoot or drive at all, and I really wished at some point you could kill them yourself, but trust me I tried it's out of the question especially when I'm pounding Jun in the head with a shotgun to get his sniper ammo. The Covie AI was better the Hunters seem to have more smarts in this one, you try to shoot them in the back and you get hit by a overhead swing from thier shield. Whats with the datapads that don't save with you and no skulls in the levels that was another thing that bothered the heck out of me. Is there something special that you get for collecting the data?

I found that the game seriously lacked the connectivity to the characters that the others had, I mean I found the deaths too sudden and just didn't shock me. I think the only ones that did were kat and Jorge. But even then the kat one just anoyed me to no end. Come on.. Spartan armour is supposed to withstand at least one shot before shields go down and then cuts through the armour.
And with carter I was like .. Oh .. How did that happen? There was no build up..
For example.. Odst, where (Mickey was it? Or Romeo) when the character gets hit with the grav hammer.. I was seriously like D: noooo But with the reach noble team.. I don't know.. I mean I cared.. But not enough to make it extremely epic for me..

A good game to compare it with that connects you to the characters is Mass Effect..

Couldn't edit my post as I'm on my iPhone an it won't let me :/
So sorry for the double post
But I realize that mass effect and reach are very different games but it's the character interaction that makes a game for me :)

just wanted to add, the developers said there IS a legendary ending within reach in their legendary edition commentary but no one knows how to achieve it. theres so much speculation about BoB elites and switches and hidden rooms. bungie made sure we had to work for the extra goodies...

kat's death was her own fault - Kat's death was attributed due to her fatal lack of situational awareness. Like the loss of her right arm in a previous operation, Kat underestimated the gravity of her situation and failed to initiate her armor's shielding system leaving her open for a BOOM headshot, i was sad that she died though because i was really interested in what she was saying.

carter, i agree was a bit sudden because we were just flyin' along and suddenly he's like, BANSHEES JUMP OUT... *noble 6 and emile jump out of pelican do some stuff, end up in a cave somewhere and: * OMG SCARAB BUBBYE GUYS CARTER OUT IMMA GUN SPLODE THIS MOT........ *BiG ExPlOsIoN*

emile was pretty good, a way he'd like to go down - fighting and flinging insults at the enemy while almost dead

jorge was sad, he thought in his last few moments that he would save reach with his actions but as soon as he's gone (dead or in another dimension, so dead) a million bad guys show up, it made me wanna fight more vigourously to avenge him and make his last wish come true.

noble 6- i'm not to sure he's dead although everyone seems to think so, you never see his body or actual death (like, the blade going through him or an elite eatting him or someting) . some may say, why is his helmet still there then, well it was pretty badly damaged and he wanted to be comfortable when he died so, he took it off. if it was me still alive at the end, i would leave my helmet there, i mean i've unlocked half the armoury, why not get a new one??

lone wolf mission- this mission didn't really make me fight hard to avenge my teammates like i imagine bungie would think you would, it just made me fell lonely and sad, so many dead spartans and marines, just left here to rot (or glass)

Whaaaa!? There's no way Kats death was her own fault! The sniper could have easily targeted noble 6 and the same thing would have happened.. But of course that wouldn't happen as your supposed to survive untill the end of the game..
For example when 6 is cradling Kat why did the sniper not take shots at 6? 2 hits and that would have been it..

I personally LOVED the after credits mission, but I think that would've been a great opportunity for a warthog run or somesuch, I didn't much feel like fighting during the mission, and I think making it back to some fallback point or something could've definitely helped the ending.

I decided that i would go into Reach with a blank slate. Dont nitpick, fuss, worry Whatever about anything in the game. Just enjoy it for whats it is. Only after finishing campaign and thoroughly soiling the pants of the unsuspecting multi-player masses... and accidentally teamkilling people in firefight using rocket propelled grunts (i lold... so hard). I figure its my time to pass judgement on Reach.
-------------------------------BRING DOWN THE HAMMER!!---------------------------------

Story - When it comes down to it the concept of Halo: Reach and the story it tells is nothing far of epic. The way in which Reach is set up really compliments the stories from Halo CE through to Halo 3, and managing to tie in Halo: ODST into the bigger picture (for those that heard Gunnery Sargent Buck over the comms) even Halo Wars got a little taste of Reach. Those that didnt get the legendary edition wont find this out but Halseys journal makes several references to one Ms Anders, the scientist on Spirit of Fire. I finished reading the journal today, and it certainly did add a whole new depth to what went on in the Halo universe.
However, for all that is awesome about Reach it did irritate me that Eric Nylunds work in The Fall of Reach novel was completely tossed out the window. If more could have been done to incorporate that interpretation of events into the game it would have really tied things up nicely. But, Reach was Bungies baby, and the book wasnt, so they did what they wanted, how they wanted. It was best said in one of the Bungie vid-docs "Reach is the definitive Halo game, made by the people who created Halo" enough said.

Campaign Gameplay - Playing through the campaign blew me away. Graphics especially. Landscapes epic, skyboxes Epic, 4 player co-op and everyone driving forklifts...EPIC!! xD Sandbox style level design really adds that extra level of dynamic during missions and lets you mix things up more, but was still typical Halo. Badass soldier, kickin arse and killin covies. The only big downer for me was the allied AI, these are the UNSC's fighting elite coupled with battle ready marines! They should know how to PRIORITIZE TARGETS!!
In-game self commentary:
Me: woohoo rocket hog, time to blow sum **** up!! WOAH! tanks better take them out 1st... no mr marine thats a grunt, thats a grunt, thats a jackel, thats a rock, thats a tree, thats a tree, thats the same damn tree! FINALLY tanks down... STOP SHOOTING THE TREE!!
AI, bit frustrating.

Multiplayer Gameplay - This is where Reach really shines. We all know the longevity of the halo games lies in their mulitplayer, and Reach is no different. With the abundance of game types, variants of each type, full (and i mean FULL) game customization you could only play Reach and enjoy it until the next Halo game ie. an undisclosed, presumably LARGE amount of time.:DVoting for games rather than vetoing. Vote for what you want to play the most, Dont care - dont vote, but then theres the people who dont vote and dont like what they get (democracy at work people :p) and quit, you quit too much you get penalised. Alls fair in love and war... and love for war :D The one gripe i would have for multiplayer is the Betrayal Booting, yes its a good for dealing with griefers, but for those who genuinely accidentally teamkill ( with flying exploding grunts for example) its a pain when someone takes it too seriously and votes to boot you.

Now ive just realised how much ive typed, for those who had the heart to read all of my rant i thank you. In closing:
The pros of the game heavily outweigh the cons so without further or do i give Halo: Reach 9.5 /10 exploding grunts :D

This Reach. And it will be remembered.

Halo: Reach is successful because it keeps you guessing. After playing the game, I felt that it made the whole series complete. We know Reach fell, but we never knew how. We never know who was the hero. Now we know: Noble 6 was the beginning of the end. Without him, there will be no Halo 1-3. Noble 6, like all soldiers died for a good cause. Many will debate whether he survived. Against all odds, surviving Reach by himself is not likely.

The story is definitely one of the best ones I've seen, and I applaud Bungie. Now...if only someone in Microsoft decides to cash in and start making a series of Halo movie... You can bet there will be tons of followers and fans. And that means tons of cash for Microsoft. With most movies now made with computer, Microsoft, how about it?

I actually felt the story was kind of lacking. The first levels and the end levels were awesome but the middle ones didn't really advance the story at all, they just felt like filler to me. You just went from place to place and took out anti aircraft guns. I didn't really get the feeling that reach was falling, there wasn't really a sense of desperation and the idea that the covenant were slowly taking over. If I didn't know reach fell already I feel like I would have been really surprised by the ending, like wtf we lost!?!?!, when did that happen? I think there should have been some cut scenes where you see a lot of marines dying like in the begining scene in halo wars. Also you should have been at some type of command post and seen maps of covenant positions and hear commanders say that there is no way to save reach. That would really cement the idea that you are losing the fight. That being said I do still think the game was awesome.

Also, when you see captain keyes in the pelican I can't believe Bungie passed up the opportunity of putting sgt johnson in the pelican. He didn't even need to talk, just be there. I think it would have been a really cool way to tie in the other halo games with reach

I can concur with several people in this thread. I wanted a bit more, at least to have a special video after the credits or something.
The easter egg in The Package helped make up for it a bit though. Sad there was not mention of us....

With the Lone Wolf mission they could'nt let you fight until your character died, my visor cracked but I never died it just went to the cutscene in the middle of me running to cover I was'nt shot or anything when it went to the cutscene, they should have allowed me to continue fighting until at least I was down to one health bar then do the cutscene that would have made it more fun for me.

I guess it is either until you die or until a certain amount of time elapses. The ending was a great way to end the game though, it gave a real sense of isolation and the feeling of the last man standing. Overall I am enjoying the game though legendary is fairly frustrating alone.

ok, i tried to delete this post but it wouldn't let me delete it, so im just saying i have changed this post because of a biased statement made by me, realised by heavy gunner who asked me to delete it asap, so i tried

The ending and espeacially Jorge's death really made me wana cry as far as Kat goes, that really, really sucks, i wonder if she ever knew what hit her, dang, and as for Carter, i almost had a heart attack when he took of his helmet in the pelican, i thought he got shot through the glass, which would have been a bad way to go, but still he got guts. Emile was kinda of a jerk to Jorge which i didn't like much but still, he went down kicking. In total i am happy with this game, though they could of put more into it thought. Hope Jun is ok. Noble 6 was pretty cool to, with out him we would have neverr found Halo or known Master Chief or Cortana, and 6 is dead, he tried to get those elites of him but one held him down and the other stuck a blade into him. Even if he did get saved, why would he leave his helmet there and also why does Halsey say that his body is now part of reach? So, he died, and may he and the rest of Noble Team rest in peace.

Also if you didn't pay attention, Dr. Halsey id Jorge's mom!!!!!!! That really shocked me.

By the way, do not worry about 343 jacking up Halo, why? Because 343 is a branch of Bungie, as a matter a fact it is called 343 as reference to 343 Guilty Spark aka, the monitor, so do not worry people! :)

Then prepare to be shocked again - Jorge is NOT Halsey's son, he's one of the original Spartan II's. I'm not sure where you got the mother/son connection...

Now Miranda Keyes IS her daughter by none other than Captain Keyes himself (that sly dog). One can assume that it happened early on when he was acting as her escort during the "candidate observation" phase...
