It's fine - just remember in the future that if people are giving you critique, it's generally a good idea to take it on board and pay attention rather than dismiss it. It'll save you a lot of hassle when you're working on your projects.

Your foam work is looking good, though. I'm impressed.

I didn't mean any disrespect. I feel the shin piece follows the contour of the human leg better, offers better articulation, and fits better when it is turned the way I had it. So I thought it was supposed to go that way. I do appreciate the correction and all critique whether its positive or negative. thats what we are all here for right, to help each other create and grow this hobby we all love so much.

Now that I have removed the knee and flipped the shin around I see that I need to redo the knee bigger so it fits properly. or seek out a new undersuit option that has built in knee pads to mount the knees to.

Heh I did the same thing with the shin at first, I'm sure others had too. It totally feels more natural/fits better turned around like that. It wasn't until I compared it with my ref images that I realized it.
Gah you're going to make me redo my suit at this rate. Such clean lines and cuts.

Also 17 hours?! Kudos! That's quite a commitment, but I suppose building a suit in tandem for your five year old is too :p He must be thrilled!

Im glad Im not the only one who thinks that about the shin. lol
17 hrs wasnt to bad. I have about 47 hrs worth on my whole body. the 17 was broken into 4hr sessions. I have found that is about all I can stand in one sitting.
My son is super excited for his suit. hopefully it will still fit him when its done. I need to get the duct tape dummy of him done soon so I have somewhere to put/display his suit when he outgrows it.

Update...
I have the forearms redone for my son. I had to keep the sides separate so they could expand when he slides his hand through and not be to big on his forearms.

Omigawsh, he looks so excited! Those forearms look just right, too. ^_^ What a lucky kiddo!

I'm glad I'm not the only one that's going to build armor for my kids (that is when my wife and I decide to have kids).
Keep it up looks awesome!

Thanks guys. My son has been asking me to make him a suit since I started on my last one. I figured I would hook him up once I started working with foam. Plus I think it would be so awesome to go to cons with him all decked out like me.

I have great respect for parents who take the time to make armor for their kids; especially knowing that they'll grow out of it in less than a year.

I made a helmet for my daughter once. She was able to wear it for all of 6 months before it stopped fitting her head. Luckily, she hasn't asked for a replacement yet. :p

Thanks man I feel the same way. I love that he is so excited about it and wants to learn how to make his own props. My nephew is 11 and is working on his first props as well. All he asked for Christmas was foam and pepakura supplies. Lol

Update time...
Boots are done. Still need to pickup some shoes to mount them to.
Knees are resized and look much better. the ones I made the first time should work for my sons armor. I am currently assembling a shin for him so once that is done I will be able to test the size.
I will post pics later today after I get off of work.

ok here are some pics.
Everything I have done for my suit so far. both boots, one shin, one thigh, both gauntlets an handplates, knife and sheath.

Sons shin ended up too small. Resized and being assembled. I am redoing all his measurements and adding an inch or so to all of them so he has some growing room.

Little shin done. Fits him good and knee works well with it.

Shin #2 for him done tomorrow.

Looking sweet, keep up the good work :)

So do you have a paint scheme you are going to be going with for both suits??
