Hellllooooo 405th-er's! I started this build back in may of 2012, long before I had even heard of the 405th, so I obviously couldnt start a WIP thread back then, and even though I'm already finished with the suit, i figured i would start a thread to show the suit anyways.

Here's a little background on my halo armoring:
Back in April 2012, I was derpin around on youtube when i found a video called "how to build your own halo master chief helmet" (or something like that). Actually this exact video:
To me, this was the coolest thing ever. I decided I HAD to make one myself. After much pain in trying to download pepakura, I realized it wasn't going to work, and my dreams were crushed, so I gave up. About a month later, I was still very curious about this 'halo building", and was searching youtube for more videos, when I came across a video by Adam called "master chief visits walmart". Again, my mind exploded. I began searching ebay for master chief armor for sale, and what did i find? Of course, the rubies armor. I quickly knew it was overpriced, and I went back to the posibility of making my own armor. After watching some of Liq's videos, I was hooked. I knew I would build myself a halo suit. A few days later, I got a new computer, got pep to work and within a few hours, I had every HD mark vi file downloaded from the wiki, and had my first low-def helmet pep'd. everything took off from there.

I have to give a huge thanks to Liq for inspiring me to paint my armor red and his overall awesome suit. Also, thanks to Cereal for his awesome tuts and Drack for his foam building video tut (the legs and boots are foam).

So, I try to keep the pics in order, but sense I have 4 different cameras, some of the pics got lost. But anyways, enjoy.

I'll edit in more pics later.

To do:
- new foam thighs, shins and boot, because the fiberglass ones are too small
-maybe a new helmet
-new, bigger chest piece
-better AR, and maybe a BR

Hop aboard and enjoy the ride, or whats left of it.

I was invited to my little brother's 4th grade class Halloween party to be a special guest for the kids, if that explains why I'm chillin with a bunch of 8 year olds instead of my friends for Halloween :p

you can see me in the back :D

I had to practically force him to wear it, lol. In my next build he gets upgraded from a marine to Jorge.

Massive update:

Due to the fact that my boots, shins and thighs were too small, I had them redone out of eva foam. The boots were freehand, the thighs were made using mroreo123's model for templates, and the shins were the ones I found on the halo costuming wiki under 'high def mark vi pieces'. (They are the only high-def shin pieces on there, I believe so it shouldn't be to hard to find if you want to use them.)

I also made a neckseal out of some pleather, btu its only held together by hotglue, since my mom's sewing machine was broken at the time.

heres how it looks on me

the mark vi was in a box in my room, so I put on the Dutch helmet I'm making for my brother in these pics to show the neckseal

Good job with the neck seal. With the odst visor did you Cut a piece out of a normal visor and place it on the bottom or did you vacuform it.

I used a cheap $6 "tinted face shield" I found at party city in a side bin for the Dutch visor. I just traced the pep visor templates onto it and cut it out. It was a pain in the but to hot glue together though. Maybe someday I'll upgrade it to a vacuum formed visor.

Lovin dem teeth lol - highfive! Great job on this build, looks like you smoked the competition for Halloween ;D Looking forward to your progress on Noble Team, you're definitely on a roll!! xD

wow loving the dedication to this, especially digging the lower jaw with teeth look

Thanks everyone! I have a HUGE update to come, I recently went to a few cons and made a few mods to the suit so pics to come as soon as i upload them to photobucket tomorrow.

sorry for the double post but...

UPDATE!!

Back in Jan. i went to the Amazing Arizona comicon and I realized I never posed pics of it, so here we go.

085_zps3bfb5eac.jpg

it was raining, so i was glad i had my armor on, because my mom, brother and friend Sam, who came along to to con with us (who is also noble 6 in by noble team build, if you're following that) were getting soaked XD

086_zpsafc94e13.jpg

this guys was a halo 2 ODST. He had a magnum, but no helmet. I forgot to ask if he was a member here.

other ppl who wanted pics with me.

After the con, I realized I needed to make a LOT of changes to the suit. Now, those pics were from BEFORE the previous update with the eva foam legs and boots. So those were the first mods I made after the con. I also decided I wanted to make some changes to the helmet.

374_zps956632f9.jpg

so first i made a bunch of markings on the helmet in gold sharpie of where to make details, more bondo work, ect.

373_zpsc63d53ca.jpg

disregard the white helmet, thats a different build

364_zps2d996a73.jpg

363_zps8e988d92.jpg

after marking up the helmet i also cut off the jaw part completely and reconnected it a few cm lower then it was before...

365_zpsdf60b704.jpg

...creating a wider visor gap

after that it was bondo, sand, bondo, sand, bondo, sand, until this is what it looked like after a coat of primer:

015-1_zpsc7c11edb.jpg

it says im over the pic limit so... continued next post!

continued from last post...

After doing more bondo work, fitting a visor and filling the visor gap, after all was done, I was left with this :

084_zps96b5494a.jpg

085_zpsb68e3c69.jpg

^that one makes it look kinda lopsided. Trust me, its not.

094_zps5b438a08.jpg

095_zps385bb9d8.jpg

^sorry, that one's kind of dark, but I was trying to get the visor details
096_zps628c1eeb.jpg

^i added some little crackes on the visor to make it look battle worn

After the helmet was done, the next piece to redo was the shoulders. My old ones were just too small and warped. Thanks to some unfolding I did on the pep file, I somehow pep'd both shoulders in under an hour. Unlike a lot of the other stuff in this thread, I got some pics of it in pep.

005_zpsa1a79aeb.jpg
006-1_zps203cccef.jpg
011-2_zpsf47a18d8.jpg

I added a couple extra supports myself because I REALLY didn't want it warping like my previous shoulders

I later realized the only pics i got of them finished were when I was wearing them sooo...

106_zps43291e5a.jpg

finished!

Ive also redone the chest piece but I have not WIP pics of it, only pics of it finished an on me at Phoenix comicon (which will be in the next post). But the chest is L3X model, scaled at 370mm high and im 5 feet tall (if anybody's wondering about scaling)

next post: Phoenix comicon pics!!!

Phoenix comic con 2013!!!!

Ok, Im tired of typing so I'm just going to put mostly pics in this post. So it was me in my mark VI, my dad in the Jorge suit, and my little bro in the dutch ODST helmet and chest piece. A lot of stuff broke in the 95 degree (F) AZ heat, so you may see gorilla tape on some of the pieces and Jorge is holding his gun weird.

So yea. That was my comic con adventure. I cant wait til next year!

Turned out pretty good! Sometimes this site makes me feel like I've arrived at a rockin' party, except hours after nearly everybody else has left. So many people have their armor done and I'm doing pep. We don't get cons here anymore so it's always fun seeing videos like that. I also like one of your early photos with the red camera - you're color-matched! lol

Thanks RC! Don't feel left out, you'll finish your armor before you know it, trust me, times flies when your building costumes. And about cons, theres gotta be some close to you, you just have to keep looking. The first con I went to I heard about from a Groupon deal.

Red's my favorite color, can you tell? lol
