looking good, i know that someone said in the forum that theres a different type of bondo that sands easier then the normal brand , i think the said green or gold but you might wanna look in to that but it looks great

I will keep that in mind with the next part of the armor.

I just managed to cut out the visor and used the black paint to test the silver / black color behavior. by now it looks quiet well but lets see what it is by tomorrow.
With the cut-out-visor I made a first fit for the golden-visor.... I love it :) now I just have to adjust the shape of the helmets inside to better fit the visor in without bending it too much!

enjoy

hi braytak, sorry I lack of the link, but there is a discussion out there that is about the idea taking a reference picture (full body picture) and calculating the sice by reference.

Telling: the reference figure is 21cm (printed) and you are 210cm (to make it easy) so 1:10. The chest part on the picture is for example 8cm so it has to be 80cm for you. That of course you have to adjust to your body but I think its a pretty smart way to get the single armor parts to a good first size.

@all: does anybody has the link about that discussion please!? I didn't find it yet

I know that if you add this stuff called microballoons to your resin, be it epoxy or polyester resin that it sands great. I would compare it to joint compound/spackle for drywall. Sorry this belongs with post #61, hit reply instead of with quote.

Your helm looks great. I like the paint scheme you have picked out. Can't wait to see how they come together on the helmet. Keep up the good work.

thank you very much.
Since I don't have a camera at the moment I'm not able to show you the progress, so you will not be able to enjoy the "black helmet" ;)
all in all the painting went very well and I applied 2-3 layers of the black color to the helmet. Tomorrow - I guess - I will start applying the red layer and hopefully the yellow parts at the end of the day so friday can be saved for the "aging"!

... hmmmm, maybe I will take a foto of the black helmet tomorrow :)

EDIT: oh, and for the question "why the heck applying silver + black if the helmet will turn out to be red... I hope to be able to create scratches that look more 3D with the black and more like "metal-helmet" with the silver.

I am certainly looking forward to the outcome of that :)

since I left some fingerprints on the other pics I only have those two for you ^^ I hope the red will not be that shiny or I have to buy another color :p

Good Morning / Day / Evening everybody,
here's 08:56 am and a wonderful sunny day so basically a good day if I wheren't sick :(

next will be the yellow parts and then the black ones inkluding the first aging step :)

ok, paintjob 's done, looking good so far.
since my notebook-gfx-card crashed yesterday I have to be on a veeeeeeeeeeery old PC now... without card-reader
so at the moment I'm not able to post pictures.

I'll keep you posted!

finally I managed to find that stupid connection-cable so I was able to load the pictures to the PC...
I hope you'll like what you see and your (hopefully good) anticipations are met:

Starting with the first brief look on the scratches (nearly finished painting):

Then a closeup of the right ear-part of the helmet with my first multi-layer-color-scratch (I think it was worth the color + time):

Going ahead (not really interessting but I like the picture) with colorizing the last part of the helmet (the cheeks):

Now I proudly present the finished paintjob :)

And some more scratches:

Since with the beginning of today I plucked up courage, I went to create the visor:
noble6_version2_visor_layer_1_t.gif
which I'd basically liked

But then I thought a dual layer visor would look much better so I went ahead :)
noble6_version2_visor_layer_2_1_t.gif

Finishing the second layer, I hope you like what it turned out to be:
noble6_version2_visor_layer_2_2_t.gif

going for the look from inside to outside you'll see I had to put the second visor layer with hot-glue since I didn't find another appropriate solution for this. You can see the glue parts at the edges of the second layer. basically you can look through better than it looks like on the picture since I managed to clean the visor ;D
noble6_version2_visor_layer_2_3_t.gif

If you have any ideas how I could create a better second layer without the hot glue, please feel free to advice :) but remember, the second layer has to be smaller then the first one so the dual-layer-visor-tut is not working :(

Wow, looks good. So you really did scratch all the scratches into the paint and it worked without a problem (like scratching through all of the paint layers)?

not all of them are scratched. basically only the big ones. The edge scratches are done with a brush like in a tutorial from - I think it was - adam
but it was some sort of a pain, going through all the paint layers since it turned out to be really strong after it was dry ;)

Really?? But that is excellent news, it means that you can bump into stuff wearing your armour without ruining your paint job right away ;-)

wow dude that looks awesome, i hope mine turns out as good as yours , after you put the visor in did you have to put something where the visor and helmet meet? it looks like black chaulk?
