In the process of carving another sidekick outta foam. The goal for this one it to make it a smaller in width with more detail. This is 1 of 3 weapon projects I want to do and get done this year. The other two is a gravity hammer because hammer! And the hunter arm shield. Because how cool would it be to think that a resourceful spartan would use it ad a ballistic shield

Everybody loves hammers!

So I figured I would a little bit better job explaining my process this time. Since I already know a good scale got the sidekick for me I used the same template as before. Trace it on the block of foam I got from work, once the rough shape is cut out I need to trim just a but more on one side and sand as best I can to smooth it out with 80grit then 150grit wjich is were I am currently

So it's been a minute since I've work on this and gave a update. I got the stencil cut up and gotten everything traced out and started to shaded where it needs to be rounded, I also have 2mm and 4mm laser sections. I'm not sure what one I want to go with for the final one. Always looking for advice

Now that I've got most of a previous project done I can finally pick this one where I left it. So after I got everything traced out and curved, it's time to add the details. Layering 2mm/4mm foam and carving out foam for added depth and details then smoothing it out with foam clay. All the progress was done over the weekend, the muzzle and bottom laser section. Might remake the front sight apertures

Nice work mate, how thick would the width be? I'm trying to make a sidekick that magnetises to my suit and I'm trying to figure out how many sheets of 10mm Foam I'll use.

They are both roughly 40mm thick blocks of foam. I have 3 sets if 3 stacked 8mmx2mm magnets holding the first one on my mk.7 & rakshasa thighs

I'm always impressed by what people can do with foam. We've come a looooong way since the old times when pep was nearly the only thing anyone really ever did...

Not much progress has been made on the sidekick this week. I wrapped up the new armor pieces for Fiss.of.fury so she can continue with her build. I did however make the controls for the laser/light and started on the front of the weapon. So I had the idea to chop off the top of a bottle and use it for a "threaded muzzle" look with the idea to make a suppressor for it. I like it but I'm not sold on it if that makes sense, I would like some feed back on it. Also with this being significantly more detailed than my last I need a different place to mount magnets to attach to my thigh, mounting them lower in the handle came to mind. Again open to ideas.

Finally got a chance to work on the sidekick and finished up the small details to get it ready for paint. I got my paints for past tense so that should go quick, also ended up making a suppressor for it still not 100% sure about it but thought it was neat
