New update!! Somewhat... It's been a while since I have been on here and actually worked on my armor. But now I am going full speed on my second helmet. Enjoy

What material did you use for the surface details? (the black stuff)

It looks really good! Keep up the good work!

Lol just goood o' cardboard :D It was from my nike 6.0 shoe box. Somewhat like expensive cardboard haha

that looks really kewl...what were you gonna do for the details around the card port? this one is gonna look good...2nd one always looks better.keep going with it

@Humboldt_spartan

I'm not sure what I am going to do about the card part. I may just carefully add enough resin to make it slightly thicker and then I'll sand it down to paint it. It's just that adding bondo there will mess it up on the detail it gives. Hahah i guess with pep helmets a second time is a charm :D but maybe third can be added too.

Ok so new update!! I would of updated sooner but I would be wasting people's times by posting up pics of newly laid fiberglass -.- but today, since my helmet is almost done being laid with cloth, I thought i would try some rondo. I've read the tut with Sigma and I thought I'd give it a try since using bondo was a pain and hearing all these good things about rondo was pretty decent compared to bondo. Butttt these pics aren't exciting since it's my first time with rondo and I didn't know what to expect. Well here you guys go and I'm open to questions or suggestions :D

Since I didn't know what i was working with, I obviously know now that I used way to much and it was rock hard within minutes. Now I need to find some special cups or something to make smaller batches.

Yeah rondo can give you great results and mess your whole piece. Seems like you did great actually.

Using bondo is an art ^^

Great job so far, the key of success is patience ;)

@LastSpartan

I suppose bondo is a art, but it seems like rondo is an easier way out :D but thanks for the compliment. At least I did the rondo part right. I would agree that patience is the key to success.

I suppose that's true since rondo slides all over the place. Yet again, it all depends on what we're suited on. Bondo or Rondo.

Well I've been exploring more with rondo and I got some pretty good results

I guess using a trash bag to catch the drippings after I made a drain canal off my helmet was a bad idea. It so happened to be windy and the trash bag caught air went up against the rondo as it was drying. Man I was so pissed and it left a mark on it. Well the first pic is the "good side" and the other is just blah. But I suppose I was lucky tonight and it wasn't fully cured and so I just used a razor blade to pick up underneath it and scrape it off.

BADDDDD

That's really starting to shape up nicely. It's a shame that you're going to have to redo the one side of it due to an evil, evil trash bag, but if it ends up looking anything like the other side, your whole helm is going to look great.

Another new update but this time it's a lot more progress. Yet again i can't stress enough how awesome rondo really is. But I did figure out some tips and hints about it. What I usually do right after I pour it on there, I let it sit until it hardens enough but still soft somewhat. I then use a razor blade to make precise cuts before I rip off the masking tape. I also found out that it is so much easier to carve things into it while it's still fresh. I hope that helps somewhat lol. Well here are the pics. Comments or criticism is welcomed.

Sorry for bad cell phone pic quality. The sun is too bright -.- but the really bright part is the rondo!

EDIT:I may just re do the pics tomorrow since you cannot see the details

It is really hard to see but I'd say it looks really good so far. More sanding near the "mouth", like leveling since it looks like it's not "flat".

Other than that, I can say you are way better than me at rondo-ing ;)

@LastSpartan

Yeah i know how some areas aren't leveled but I plan to do the whole helm in rondo before i start sanding.
