Starx - Mark 3 Build

i've been following this thread since the start and i just have to drop by and say, that is a thing of beauty- you have some serious pep skills and some serious patience to complete as much as you have. i cant wait to see the finished project. i would love to have a suit like this one, but i know how much effort it takes to make a mark vi- let alone a suit with no exposed body. any chance that you will be casting/molding any pieces of it? it would almost be sad for that suit to live it's life alone, and not give birth to at least a few iron clones.

Woohoo! Progress, progress, progress. Looking absolutely fantastic as always.

I think I need to follow your example and set up a deadline on my ODST build. I've been dragging knuckles on it and I really should give myself a cutoff to try and motivate me to get it knocked out.

This build looks absolutely incredible, but I'm a little worried about your mobility once it's complete. The fact of the whole abdomen area being a solid piece is confusing = any plans to divide that up to enable better movement range?

all honesty, i have been leaning more towards making molds of this entire build once i finish it and just doing a limited run on this forum as far as selling the armor. that way the pep process is out of the way, and people can build iron man their own way. itll also be cheaper than TMP's suit (havent quite decided the price and options for the suit yet) just to make iron man more available for more iron man enthusiasts.

actually yes. once the build is pepped, fiberglassed, resined, bondod, etc, i plan on molding key pieces in robber or devise other forms of bandability and movement. For now i thought of casting the cod and stomach plating with the spine as one rubber piece in order to achieve a better sense of mobility if it came to bending over and what not. As well as the knees, joints, and neck. However, im still taking suggestions to that matter as i am not very skilled in mold making and/or casting in rubber or other materials. But like everything on this build, i'll try to keep it as realistic and movie accurate as possible.

what i dont get is how is an actual suit NOT possible. theyve got all of their stuff right here!

This suit would take forever to mold and cast, but there are some interesting products out there that dont look like rubber, but do behave like it. I'm a newb to mold and castmaking too, but I've heard good things about flexfoam 25 in key areas to promote mobility. For the ab plate though, you may have to devise some kind of layerable system (think the arbiters arms). That's how I've always drawn iron man, and how I always imagined it might really work.

Well an actual suit is fully possible, they even made one for the movie, the vid for the build is on youtube. =0

Not meant to wander to far off topic and to take away from Strax wonderful creation;

an actual suit is totally NOT possible. Just because it looks like it should work doesn't mean it does work. There is no way a propulsion system capable of lifting a human, wearing a ton of ballistic resistant steel into flight (let alone supersonic flight) will fit into the bottom of a boot.

as well there is no fuel or power source that would be able to fit on the suit as well. Not to mention that a hydraulic ram the size of a number 2 pencil is not going to give someone super human strength. It would be incredibly cool if a suit was possible but thats why we have Hollywood.

There are servo suits that do enhance strength out there, you can even build them yourself if you have a working knowledge of hydraulics (as well as a good insurance plan). However, yea they aren't fitting in iron man sized armor. You could probably fit them in an iron monger suit or a mk 1 iron man suit. But power to run them and self sustained flight are all just imagination.

The suit itself is possible, the power system, definitely not. Besides i dont see how a human being could handle a sudden stop after going supersonic. His eyes brain and all other internals would go straight through the nose or out the eyes if that happened.

Everyone - I would just like to start a major stepping stone in this project. This armor will now be worked on in a new group called STARX

INDUSTRIES. (hence the logo at the sig) the group consists of myself, and superman extreme. Officially, i will be the owner of the

files and supermanextreme will be my helper in this project as well as my equal in the matter. Any questions on the build can be

directed towards him as well as towards me. I know i can trust him to not release the files to anyone until i see fit to do so. For

now this build will be a joint effort to make one of the better iron man armors out there. I want this build to be the best, and

with his help im sure this will be achieved. I and Superman will be working on our suits in order to have something that will be able

to be casted and mass produced for the public. I feel this step will be helpful in producing iron man armor that will rival any other

iron man armor out there. All i can say is supermanextreme has helped me greatly in the past, and i am honored to call him my teammate.

Welcome to STARX INDUSTRIES Superman. Glad to have you.

Your one lucky Mofo to be able to get your hands on those files I know there's a lot of jealous people out there now....including me lol

Good luck on the build though I'll be watching very closely :)

A combined effort on getting one perfect Iron Man suit, AND a perfect War Machine? Can't wait guys. Keep up the amazing work! Hope I can afford a finished cast when you start selling them...

I haven't really taken any time to thank everyone for their support so far. So thanks everyone for your support so far. I have already sent out a few messages to some of you in regards to maybe joining STARX INDUSTRIES. It all will depend on the availability of needed skills and so on in order to become a member. Plus if superman recommmends someone as well then that will be taken into consideration. But thanks again to everyone for their continued support in the project. Once this is done well definitely have some awesome armors out there for everyone to enjoy. (and hopefully in time for halloween next year)

Wow that is awesome you two are teaming up. I have been following both your builds every since I joined the 405th. I will send in a resume when you guys start hiring. :)

First off, I have to say that you are just as talented if not more talented than the actual Tony Stark Character!!! AMAZING WORK!!! I have made a suit in the past out of cardboard, toys, and bondo (Epic fail, see avatar).

If Starx Industries ever creates applications, I would fill one out for sure (good with fabrication, wiring and LED lighting :) But you can be damn sure I will be one of the first on the waiting list for either the files or the mass produced casts.

I can't wait to see whats in store for the special effects and electronics.

KEEP GOING!!! I would LOVE to be able to take another stab at a Ironman Halloween next year (my roomate and I want to do one ironman and one warmachine to wear as a team at halloween parties)
