Starx - Mark 3 Build

pretty much a good bit of the suit will have working electronic components much like the real suit. so in the sense it literally will be a working piece of armor. so far, superman and i are going to try various different moving parts, as well as an actual missle launcher system for the gauntlets. so far in my trials i have been able to make a system where the arm opens mechanically, brings up the missle...but doesn't fire yet. i wanted to make something where the missile shoots but not a harmful way. plus maybe something to make it look like a missile left the pod, but still not being dangerous. of course there will be smoke and such for takeoff simulations and other things. Pretty much a suit that boasts as much technical prowess as it does accuracy.

As far as rockets, I would try either a small bottle rocket (the size of a crayon) or an estes 1/2A rocket motor. You can lock both in so they don't release if you are worried about safety. The estes motor is an electronic ignition, so that would be my recomendation. It is a short burn low thrust motor. You can pick them up at a hobby store. Just a thought, not sure if that fits feasibly as to what you were looking for. Loving the build so far and am excited to see the results of the new Starx collaboration!

If you're looking to cast in rubber or such, your best bet might be latex since it can be colored fairly easily, it's fairly easy to work with, and can be painted afterwards with certain latex-based paints. It's also fairly strong, so it'll hold up to quite a bit of wear and tear, and if you get the right kind it won't discolor too much - although I'd recommend keeping it out of direct sunlight for prolonged periods, since it does tend to discolor when left to 'bake'.

I am starting an Iron Man build of my own, although with the poor weather recently it's kind of on hiatus - I'm using the time to work on the files a little - support struts, et cetera. Though, I'll definitely be using this thread as a benchmark for my own builds.

I appreciate the advice. I have no experience whatsoever casting in rubbers, latex, flexi foams, or anything else of that variety. But i sure appreciate the help. If it comes to it, and i just dont have the time to cast, i might be sending pieces out to be casted in latex and so on. Ill probably have a few different versions just to see which is better.

I think for items like the abdominal area, you could cut the plate into overlapping "strips" and add a latex or rubber backing that does not allow gaps to show but still allows bending mobility.

just a thought, I have no idea if that will work or not :)

Knowing my brother hes definently made a big book right now with all of his ideas in them. who knows, maybe it even contains the answers to all of lifes greates misteries o_O

wouldn't it be easier to pep one suit and then smoothcast and pep the other parts for war machine? i mean the MKIII is the base for war machine anyway, right?

OOh boy. i got some stuff to write about..here goes.

That idea has crossed my mind. My original idea was to leave the stomach plates in "layers" if you will that overlap. Behind these layers will be a fabric material like maybe vynil or something that will stretch but only to the point of movability. It is a suit of armor after all, wouldnt want my chest exposed...

You know me too well. Actually yes. i have a booklet of all the parts lists, details, things i plan to do, little nick nacks and so on to help complete the build..The checklist alone is three pages long.

The original plan for starx industries is for me and superman to each make our own suits. His is a bit smaller, mines a bit taller, both a athletic build. The point of this is to when we do a limited run there are choices. The war machine upgrades will come sepparate. And yes, i will be designing some guns and armaments for the suit..if time allows.

There is a correction from Starx's earlier post

Suits will not be "mass produced" when they are done.

This project is more to create a very different kind of cosplay suit for ourselves with the help of some very talented friends who are contributing very different skills

This is truly an exciting Build with people offering help from different parts of the continent and even overseas.

Parts will possibly be made in very small runs for loyal allies and friends when the time comes but this has not been confirmed.

I Just dont want to give anyone the wrong idea. We are not going to become an Iron Man Armor factory

This was my opinion on the matter and I received the approval from Starx a few minutes ago via Text msg.

Thank you

SupermanExtreme1

That pretty much sums it up. The suits are being built in collaboration with other people for their electronics expertise, and many other things. The part about us making copies, is true to an extent. Making a mass production is not within our goal (my bad for not clarifying earlier) but there might be a limited run of these suits. We must first finish ours...then well see.

great can't wait. I find myself checking this topic for updates far more often than I really should be. :)

Incidently, anyone find out how to change your forum name? I don't want to compete with Strax here.. lol... he can be the only Industries :)

Before the formation of Starx Industries, we were led to believe that the files would be released, once Starx had finished his first suit or two.

However, this might've changed now, with the new team member, and the formation of the team.

So far, i am pepping them out from my files, then adding some electronics. Ill show some pics of that and go more into it when i get to that.

oh i didn't mean "now" as in they will be released soon, I was referring to the fact that there WAS talk of them not ever being released.
