<ul>[*]NC Town wants time warner to lower rates[*]Time warner says no[*]town decides to spend millions to install fiber optic lines[*]offers faster speed, more cable channels, phone and for about 30% less than time warners price[*]time warner freaks and lobbies to state to shut down towns fiber optic network as subscribers leave TW in droves[*]Town even offers 100mb download AND upload package[/list]

And time warner is still trying to meter bandwidth and usage of the internet. Stupid big corporations stunting growth of data networks. If the nazi-socialist government supports their appeal, we are really in endtimes in this country.

Wow, thats just f***ed up.

I have Verizon right now and thank god they have not started limiting bandwidth.

Time Warner should just keep quite and die silently  .

The only bit of logic I can see in Time Warner is them saying that they can't compete with a business set up to run at cost, almost as if the cable/internet was a Government service, but even that does not hold too much water, especially in the case of Time Warner, being the gigantic corporation that they are.

I have an excellent example of this. In some cities the trash collection is a government service, however, there are also private trash collection services, and people can chose which one to go with. Often, many people do chose to go with the private trash collections services, even though they cost more. Why? Because they make up for that increase in price with increased services, perhaps offering recycling when the city doesn’t, or just better over all service, with consistent and timely pick ups etc.

The city proving these services at cost is just exposing how much TW is grossly over charging people, and not making up for that over charge. If TW wants to charge so much more, they need to justify it, and they don’t. TW offers poor service; my family has several horror stories about their customer service lines, and just the overall quality of their internet service. We would go with almost anyone else, however, TW is really the only high speed internet provider in the area. Which to me often feels a bit like a monopoly, and don't we already have laws on the books to prevent just such a thing? :rolleyes

Competition is supposed to be at the Heart at the economy, it’s the whole basis for capitalism. TW needs to realize their terrible service ad high prices are driving people away, it's their own fault.

Local provider Embarq still defends its decision, saying it has the right to make money (which it argues Greenlight Inc. does not).

That made me laugh!
I'm lost for words to what to say on that

amen , the only difference between fascism and socialism is conquest vs consent (the Nazis were fascists btw)

Crap, just realized TW is still billing me after I cancelled cable because I haven't returned the box.

Well guess that's just another errand to run today.

oh, don't even get me started on the crap that we've had with TW's internet, I have re connect it at least 6 times a day. Hopefully this will open their eyes.

I wish we could do that around here. I'd really like to stick it to ComCast.
I really don't see why Comcast is so bad, am I oblivious to my cable/phone/internet provider's evil ways? o_O
