So I was going to continue to post pics of my Transformer on my intro thread, but I decided to make an official WIP so here it goes.

This is the chest plate. Its Plexiglas with a hand cute Decepticon logo and tinted with nightshade spray paint.

This is the right hand carved out of Styrofoam and covered in card stock. Its shaped to either point or hold his rifle. Have not decided rather to make the rifle or not

This is the left hand carved to shape a fist. You can see here its carved out of Styrofoam and I have not covered it in card stock yet.

This is the finished head waiting for resin. Thanks to some advice I am waiting to resin until I can cover it in some kinda of either latex paint or some kind of sealant to protect the exposed foam from the resin melting it away.

This is the chest plate framed again in carved Styrofoam. I realized that once I put the frame around the 24" wide Plexiglas I realized it was to wide for my chest so i will be modifying this piece.

So that is all I have so far. Next after I rebuild the chest plate it will be on to building the PVC skeleton for the torso.

So I was reading in some other sections, I hope I posted ths in the right area. Please inform me if I have not. Thank you

I don't know which part is my favorite so far...the hands, the plexiglass, the helmet! You have a knack for detail and look forward to watching this build! Might I ask out of curiosity what are you using to cut the styrafoam and is it just straight up styrafoam?

yes its actually just styrofoam. I work at rent a center so i had a very good supply of styrofoam packing blocks and such. so i decided i wanted to cause last year i carved an entire skeleton out of foam. and as far as cutting the foam im using a very sharp exacto blades and going veeeerrryyy slow. I just keep buying new blades when those dull. and then as far as getting it smooth its fine grit sand paper and again going very slow. As far as detail yeah I really have to make sure of the specific detail due to being a virgo and a slight perfectionest. lol and this is just fun for me

This has made my day, Soundwave has always been my favourite Decepticon. Can't wait to see how this turns out!

Sorry its been awhile guys real life kind of took over but here is a small update that I wanna share with you. I am almost finished covering my foam in card stock for the hands and helmet. I have a small question? In a previous thread someone suggested using latex paint to cover the exposed foam to protect it from the resin. My question is how many coats will be sufficent to protect the foam? Should I just go 2 layers? Perhaps 3? just untill i cant see white anymore? Please help as I have stated in previous times i am scared to ruin months worth of work.

Someone asked me how I was doing the foam here is a few pics of how I do it.

So here is an update. It didn't seem like I got much done today but his took a lot more time and effort due to the fact that I have no set plans of this is how to do it. so I have to think about it, and that takes time lol

So this is the rebuilt PVC frame for the chest made out of 1/2" PVC.

This is the backpack system to help hold up the chest and the weight on the front from the plexiglas chest plate.

Its a method that I am slowly perfecting. Its actually carved Styrofoam covered in 110lbs card stock but its alot of work. So far its been pretty easy, but what I am fearing is hitting the foam with the resin and it melting.

This is awesome XD! What you can do is add painter's tape to cover the exposed parts before you resin. Just a suggestion. Really looking toward to seeing this finished :)

This is really a creative project you've got going here. I especially like the helmet. Keep up the great work.

I was told not to use painters tape with the resin cause it would either leak through or melt the adheseive on the tape. Ok so due to the fact that I am a noob could somone clear this for me? cn I use tape or do i go with the latex paint method?

OK boys and girls its that time again. Sorry its taken me a bit to update I had to slow down due to the fact that money was getting a little bit tight cause I have been out of work for a month due to a medical leave of absence. Thank you for your concern I am doing much better now. So due to lack of funds I had time to sit down with my helmet again and as my wife keeps laughing at me, my helmet has undergone another face lift. I stepped on the lens that I had made for the eyes and broke it, so that lead me to modify the eyes to fit another lens. I gave him a nose job so that my own nose fit into it better also allowing my head to sit in the helmet much better. Also have added a bit more details that in person are going to enhance the quality. Enough talk on to the pics.

Please criticism is taken well. If you have a suggestion to help me out on anything its appreciated. I do need to figure out how to wire 3 fans and some lights in the chest. So if any of you knows how to build a multi funtion switch and how to power it off of a batttery pack let me know.
This is Kias aka Soundwave0922 rolling out.

dude that looks pretty good!

The only thing I would say is if you want the arms to look like you sketched
you're going to have to scale back the chest a bit and make it a little thinner
otherwise your arms aren't going to be able to fit in the shoulder pieces
because the chest hangs over you shoulders so far. Pull back the shoulders a
bit them you'll be able to have those square shoulders you want!

Looks good man!
