Yeah, I just dont know what I would like to make. I'm also making a carbine rifle right now for myself. Also whats the next step I take after prepping it? Resin out the outside and fiberglass on the inside? For the cod plates, do I use velcro? Do I put it on before or after resin and fiberglass? Also if there is a different type of material I should use that will make the paint look more like metal(silver paint for war machine), please let me know. What process should I use for paint and what type of paint to make it look as real as possible.

I'm still new here but from all the tuts that I have been reading the next step would be to resin/ fiberglass as you have said followed by sanding and body filler work. And as far as the paints go me personally I would use an automotive paint. Any reputable paint shop in your area will be able to match the paint that you are looking for. They probably have a factory color that will get you close if not exactly where you want to be. You will need a decent spray gun and compressor along with misc. supplies but I think that you will be much happier with the finish and the durability of the paint versus spray can or something to that effect.

But that is just my opinion. Hope it helps! :D

3 layers of resin, fiber-glassed inside and some bondo outside to form a better shape:

Thanks, yeah, I've read a few guides but some say to fiberglass bother the inside and outside, then there are some that say just resin the outside and fiberglass the inside. I've also seen a guide where they put some type of plaster on the outside to get more detail and I love that look. It makes it grey looking and very smooth. What is that and does it go after the resin/ fiberglass?

Putting the resin on the outside and rsin/fiberglass on the inside would probably be the best bet. And the "gray" color you are seeing is body filler or "bondo" as it is commonly referred to and yes it would go on after the plaster. It is used to smooth out the helmet, much like after pulling a dent in a car we would usually have to use some body filler to get it completely smooth. It takes some practice but you can do it. Use an old piece to mess around with. And of course this will require sanding. Good luck and I'll help you as much as I can. :cool

Well, I've been working on a halo 3 carbine at the moment since I have to wait to see if what I've done so far fits my little brother. If its does, then I'll move onto the chest piece. Heres a picture of my carbine so far.

ive been thinking about making a carbine. tell me how it turns out.

Well Its looking great, heres a picture of pepping finished. The barrel looks too long/ big.

War machine update: Started work on the chest piece, I made it a little bit bigger since the helmet and cod pieces hardly fit him.
