Why you made your armor...

So, I was wondering. What inspired the rest of you to make some halo armor. Personally, after seeing Monstermaker13's armor, I was amazed and inspired to make my own. That and Halo is just plain awesome. What about you?

I saw a video on gizmodo.com which had adam humping ps3's at gamestop, seeing his armor so godly, I wanted a suit too, so I googled and found this site and started working on pepakura right after reading all the stickies.

Well, I started by making a helmet, and it sucked, so I made a new one, and I ended up making the whole suit of armor!

I originally saw Chris Bryan's armor on HBO years ago. Tried making my own by layering posterboard, gave up. Discovered the 405th last fall, been here since.

My co workers asked me why do I own masterchief and stormtrooper suits, I said "Because out of self gratification, and fandom, I can."

I was on a hunt for a Nightmare kit. I had seen them on old G4 clips and was very impressed. There was just something about Mjolnir armor that I thought made an incredible costume (Never had much of an inclination toward costuming before that). NAS's website was down, all the sources I could find said they were discontinued. Then I found Sid on the forums. Sent him a PM and got cobbled together kit from spare parts they had lying around. Then I decided to upgrade certain parts, stuck around and started making a few of my own.

That's Reason # 1 for me! I mean, who wouldn't want to be the Master Chief?

I was on a hunt for a Nightmare kit. I had seen them on old G4 clips and was very impressed. There was just something about Mjolnir armor that I thought made an incredible costume (Never had much of an inclination toward costuming before that). Same here. Thier set of armour was the first I'd ever seen, and from that point on I was immediately hooked. One way or another, I wanted a set of my own.

I'd seen a few up on eBay, but considering the high prices those fetched, I hoped to find a better deal elsewhere.

So, one day while I was searching online for any MJOLNIR armour possibly for sale, I stumbled across this site. I started looking around, and once I realized how relatively easy it would be with my skills and experience (all that attention to detail and time spent on my Star Trek props helped), I just had to have it.

That, and as much as I enjoy Star Trek props (that's what got me into this hobby in the first place), for the last little while I'd wanted to branch out into other props than just Star Trek.

And, well... here I am... heh heh

Lets see. My story begins last August. Back then I wasn't even a Halo fan. So I guess out of some random chance I was browsing the web when I found MjolnorArmor.com. I started reading into it, and then about Halo and the story, and I liked it. So then after lurking around the forums for a few weeks, and after discovering the wonders of pepakura, I realized "I could do this if I wanted to". Then I basically told myself "No don't do it, its too much of a project", but I still knew it would happen sooner or later. I picked sooner and next thing I know, I have layers of superglue on my fingertips and a fully assembled H2 left forearm. That was a good feeling.
Ok, so that was a bit of a tangent, but to answer the thread's question: Because I (and we) am a Halo fan. We're on a different level than the weekend warriors on XBL. Just playing the games isn't enough, you gotta live it. Thats why I make armor.

My sentiments exactly, lionheart! Of course, in my case, it's having a mostly finished Mk VI helmet in my possession, and what a great feeling it is to know that I made with my own hands...

Ah yes, it is a great feeling indeed. Except I don't have a moderately completed suit yet. I made about half of the H2 files, then got a girlfriend , then the Beta files came out, so thats what I'm working on now.

Basically when I first popped halo into my xbox and thought, wouldn't if be great having your own mjolnir armor?
so I went browsing on the internet for suits to buy, but after seeing the extremely high prices I thought I would never get to get a suit until I had an idea of making my own. So I eventually stumbled across this site and registered. It all basically started off from there.

Truth be told it was mostly because of the look of the Chief. After Halo 3 came out and I saw the cinimatics from 1& 2 I really liked it, and one thing lead to anouther, now I have bits of paper scattered thruout my house.

Same here. Ever since NAS made their armor a few years back I wanted a set of armor myself.
I'v only just now been able to convince the wife that it would be a good investment to buy some armor after a year of nagging. (plus I recieved a nifty load of cash in the way of compensation from a dude who crashed into me whilst I was riding My 125 and broke my leg.........swweeeeettt) Progress is going well and hopefully soon I should have something to show for my efforts.
I also bought some armor that was unfinished (bad pulls) so as to make a project out of it, improving and refining it.

Some of my friend call me the Halo freak because I always tink of that. Sine I play Halo CE on xbox I just become a fan and I also have a ... I dont know if we can call this a poster but tink he got 5feet by 20feet. HAHA and my girl friend, she is to awesome to endure my Halo passion. I seach on the net to get some reference or some pic of armor and I fall on this site who are really awesome. Thanks Adam.

I love the old black and white sword fighting moves of the 1930-40. Then there was Star Wars, the armor was sooo coool. I starter out 28 maker armor at the Ren-fair, then moved to ABS for my TK armor and then got into movies. When Halo 2 came out I new I needed to have one, and $3500.00 was 5X what I paid for my first TK... So we made it.
