 :cautious: I was sleeping and my brother woke me up telling me my Xbox doesn't work. So I think hes kidding and go back to sleep. When i wake up do all my normal Saturday morning chores. Then I sit down to play my Xbox. I sit down and push the eject button. I slide in Call of Duty 4, then i turn my head and see 1 red light in the bottom right hand corner flashing. I turn on my television and see E 73. Now i blame my brother for everything 'cause it worked fine last night. Now I have nothing to do, so could you guys try to help me find a fix for it. This is my 13th Xbox now, first Elite if that helps. Microsoft really needs to re-design these. I'm not sending it in for 1. I can't go 2 weeks with no Xbox, then having to go another week re-downloading everything I have. Please help a fellow 405th member.

i dont think it is RRoD because isnt that two red lights? and then 3 when your cables are unplugged? i may have it mixed up but i certainly have never seen 1 light.

Turn off your console, disconnect and reconnect all cables, and then turn on your console.
If an Xbox Hard Drive is attached to your console, turn off your console, and then remove the Xbox Hard Drive. Turn on your console, and test for the error. If the error does not reoccur, turn off your console and reattach the Xbox Hard Drive. Run alternate tests by having the Xbox Hard Drive connected and disconnected to see whether the error occurs only when the Xbox Hard Drive is connected. For more information if the on-screen alphanumeric error is E67, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
917874 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/917874/ ) One of the lights on the Ring of Light on the front of your Xbox 360 console flashes red and you receive one of the following error codes: E67, E68, or E69
If an Xbox Memory Unit (MU) is plugged in to your console, turn off your console, and then remove the Memory Unit. Turn on your console again, and test for the error. If the error does not reoccur, turn off your console and reinsert the MU. Run alternate tests by having the MU connected and disconnected to see whether the error occurs only when the MU is connected.
If this problem continues, contact Xbox Customer Service.
Note If the agent cannot help you resolve this problem, you must return your console to Microsoft for repair.

Ok, first, just because you send it in, doesn't mean that you have to re-download everything, you keep your hard drive. My xbox broke in September, I've been without it for 2-3 months now. And your whining about 2-3 weeks? Just send the thing in and stop whining.

Best regards,
Mike

you can either call the number listed on the repair part of their site, or you can order a box off the internet. They will not charge you for a box.

http://support.xbox.com/support/en/us/nxe/...re/default.aspx

If you haven't registered your console, do that. You should see a 'Register Console' button on the bottom of the left hand navigation bar.

Best regards,
Mike

First, you don't send in your HDD... no re-downloading needed.

Second, if you've been through fourteen 360's than how do you not know by now that 3 lights is the RROD?

I don't remember what one light is but you should probably unplug every cable attached to the 360 from both ends of the cables and let it cool down for a few hours in a cool place. Make sure you plug everything back in firmly.

Also, I recommend running it horizontally. If there is any hardware problem this will help things to stay in place.

I know what Rrod is "Red ring of Death. Its where 3 red rings are around the power button. It means General hardware failure or something in your xbox just got owned (LOL). I have had it enough times to know. Out of my 13 xboxs I got all of them were at CostCo except for my elite. So i would just return it. Now i can't return it because it isn't at costco and i passed my 90 day guarentee thing.

Anyway out of my 13 xboxs:
4 got RroD
1 got Error 74
3 got Disc Drive Errors
1 got its disc drive pulled out by my brother
1 didn't even start up.
3 that got numerous errors i can't remember.

Seriously I hate going on to the phone and calling Microsoft Support because when they pick up its always sounds like some poor indian guy picking his nose and drinking coffee trying to talk and the conversation usually goes:

Microsoft Support: Hello may i help you?
Me: Yea I got one red light in the corner of my Xbox power button, may you please help me?
Microsoft Support: Sir do you have any errors once you turn it on.
Me: Yes Error 73
Microsoft Support: I'm sorry i didn't here you may you please repeat the error code?
Me: Yes Error 73
Microsoft Support: Sorry I don't have the authority to give you what you need.
Me: Let me speak to your supervisor.
Microsoft Support: 1 second please

Then it goes on and on and on until some ignorant Microsoft support fag hangs up. Then we end up getting a gi-normous phone bill.

How long ago did you get your 13th Xbox?
I don't know I always get pro bundles and got the xbox elite about 7-8 months or something after they came out i think not sure. This is my first elite and it hasn't had problems till now, if i send it in do they send back an elite or a white one.

also if you have gone through 13 xboxs it isnt the system, it is you probably overusing it. expecially when you are complaining about waiting 2 weeks. buy halo pc get custom edition and you will have more fun than you would on halo 3.

Or just play pc games like other people do. the xbox is an overrated pile of plastic IMO. PS2 and pc rules.

\BTW. 13 TIMES YOUVE GONE THRU THIS? after the first or second microsoft would be pwned by me personally.

You'll get back what you sent in. It will be a MS reconditioned/refurbished elite. Make sure you keep the hard drive at home.

yeah I sent in my elite not to long ago, got that same one back but with a new dvd drive. also don't send your hard drive then you wont have to redownload anything, also don't send your faceplate might not get one back.

also from what I hear, E 73 is a hardware problem, specifically the Ethernet port
on top of that some people say its just over heating. so disconnect everything but he power and see what happens.

if that still doesnt work you should still be within the 3 yr warranty for Rrod so your shipping will be free and it takes 2 weeks or less plus if you save your hard drive you don't have to redownload.

Here's another trick to try.

STOP PLAYING THE DAMN XBOX! There's seriously much better things you can do, if you've been through 13 Xboxes then something's wrong with you. That's more replacements than the entire population of my school has gone through (Out of 300+ xbox 360 owners in our school, only four or five have needed ONE replacement).

Oh, and the best you can do is send it in.

I never trust Microsoft Support. That's why I purchased a second Xbox as a backup.

I had RROD on my old one. Sent it in. Never got it back. I kept contacting them, and they said they needed proof it was mine!

So to prove my hatred for Microsoft (Dont know how much hacking is disrespected in these forums, but yeah) I took my New Xbox apart, Modded my disk drive to accept Aone disks, And removed the "X-Clamps" which are what keep the Xbox together, and give you RROD. And replaced them with a few Nut's n Bolts. Never had RROD since. And not to mention I have access to free games (By the way, don't judge me. I do actually BUY games) And I purchased a Transparent Xbox case for Xmas and some Blue LED Fans.

Thing is, I also have a PS3, And I wouldn't dare place a screwdriver anywhere near the thing. Because I can actually trust the PS3, Never had a problem with it, And I got it on Release date.
