Hi there,

I figured it might be worth recording a build log for my Sean Bradley ODST kit.

I have chosen the "Rookie" helmet for my build and will just be doing it as another generic ODST.

So far I have the helmet from Sean and the armour and rucksack is ordered and awaiting shipment from him.

Armour, Rucksack and glove kit has been received from Sean.

In the mean time had started working on the helmet, trying to align the visor was a pain but got there in the end.

Also had a mate print me an smg using files bought from AguilarWorkshop on Etsy.

Another small update, the smg is 95% sanded and ready to have the first coat of spray putty on it. I tried adjusting the visor a little more but not really having any luck so I'll end up filling in the gaps with foam like what Galactic Armory has done on their helmets. Also bought some different gloves to go with Sean's glove kit just to be a little different with it. I'll be taking annual leave shortly and the plan is to get a big chunk done, so hopefully my next update will have a bit more to it.

That blue visor pops so well! That foam will fill in the gaps nicely I think (and give it more dimension)

Are you going for a look like in your profile picture? I'm excited to see how it turns out :D Any updates are appreciated!

Honestly, I don't have a full idea on how I want it. I'm more a modify and change it up as I go builder. The sniper helmet attachment I know I do want though.

So I got to this point with the helmet and now not happy with the lighter base colour I have chosen. So going to start again and go with the darker slate I have used for the stripes on top to be the base now.

I'm definitely getting desert camo vibes from this helmet. A black wash would do a lot to unify the colours and make it look more cohesive, but if that's not what you were going for I could definitely see why you'd want to change it up.

One thing that I'm liking about building an ODST is that your colour design can be fleshed out on the helmet (since all the colours are present there).

I'm looking forward to what you come up with next :)

I went over it this afternoon with the slate. Much happier with that. I have a few plans I want to do for designs on it but just working out which colours go where. So the name I go with comes from being a big Thor fan and that I was cosplaying Infinity Wars Thor for a while, so I'm wanting to add Norse bits to my build as well as which fits with making the sniper my main weapon with the smg. "You hear thunder before you see the lighting". I'm planing to add a stripe down the centre as well as the Valkyrie wings straight down the top of the helmet but unsure if I want them in the off white and the stripe grey or vise versa. I'm leaning towards the wings being the off white though.

Helmet is about 90% done. Still want to scuff up a bit more and do an oil wash and it should be done. Much happier with these chosen colours.

Also both the rucksack and kit are cut out and just need to be sized. I plan on re-enforcing the kit to make it more durable.

So it's been a while and unfortunately not a great deal done. Between work, family and just trying to enjoy any down time I can get I haven't been motivated enough to pull the whole kit out to work on. In saying that I have mostly finished off the Socom and SMG as well has started on the chest. The weapons have been easier to just do bits here and there, I also got my beret which I need to bash and shave.

I still am yet to pull the kit out and work on it more, but it doesn't mean progress isn't being made elsewhere. Each day after work I've been slowly getting the print lines out of the SRS99, I've also had some more soft goods turn up. I came across some airsoft shoulder attachments I thought may work.

Just another small update, took the pistol and smg to a mates to finish off the weathering. I just need to clear coat them and I can say they are done. The SRS99 is mostly complete, it had an accident and broke in a few places which set that back or it'd be complete by now. The rucksack is coming along which I'll get photos of soon as well. I'll be tidying up my work area shortly and starting to fibreglass the inside of the armour to get progress made on that.

So I've been mainly working on the Rucksack to get that knocked over, almost done but looking for advise on the weathering with the key chains I've used in the sides. With how shiny they are compared to the rest of the kit I was looking for a way to dull them down.

This is looking great so far! I love the weathering you have done and the small detail touches that give it Character , the charm is also such a cool idea!
For Weathering you could give the entire thing an Acrylic wash in either brown or black , just water down some acrylic paint and slather it on there - and then quickly wipe away on any high spots with a paper towel or similar. That should dull down the colors as well as make it look more worn , and then you can always touch up with extra acrylic paint after.

Thanks! It's actually hard to see but I have gone over it a few times with a black wash.

Been a little bit again, I managed to clean out a decent spot in my garage to make an area to work on the kit pulled my finger out to start fibreglassing and have almost got it all done.

Also ordered some new boots, came across a thread with someone recommending these to be a bit more game accurate.
