Fantastic job. You are almost there. :D

Thanks Justin. That means alot coming from you man! also, thanks again for the cod piece!

I have another little update for you guys and gals.

I finished work on the knife, at least for now. Not sure what else I can add to it that won't make it look tacky. I started by taping out a design on the blade, then I sprayed several coats of flat black to build up paint. You'll see the design clearly in the next pic.

I then un-taped it, and sprayed the entire knife in flat black. This left me with the raised design on the blade. I like how it's subtle, but noticeable.

I then taped off the edge of the blade and sprayed it with metallic silver, and did some light weathering on it...

Do you all think it has enough weathering on it? I'll leave it alone for now until I hear some feedback.

Here's what it looks like in the sheath. You can really see the exposed blade now. Me likey!

I also managed to get the shoes glued into the boots...
IMG_20140131_100207_6411_zpsa94b41fc.jpg

I added some support around the shoe inside to make it feel a little more solid when wearing them...

That's all for now. Thanks to all who've commented on the project. It's really has helped keep me going. Hope to have more soon! :D

Me likey me likey! Great updates, im happy to see more progress on everything man, I think the weathering on the knife is good by the way, and the exposed blade looks awesome :)
YAY for updates!!

Thanks M for the comments! I've been working on the ribbed center of the boots, and they are turning out great! I'll get some pics up tomorrow. :D

I think the weathering looks great on the knife. I'm looking forward to seeing how you finish the boots. Right now you have gotten as far as me.

Looking forward to them :)
Glad to hear that!

Thanks Justin. I'm looking forward to finishing them. I have a bit of work to do in the shop for the next couple of weeks, so progress may be slow. However, I do have a few pics to share of the progress I've made on the boots...well, one boot actually.

I was looking for an alternative to using a cut up plunger for the ribbed section of the boot, when I remembered MacAttack64's build and what he did for the boots. I didn't have any of that type of backing foam laying around so I finally came up with using thin foam sheets to substitute. I just folded the sheeting over about 3/8 of an inch, then ran a bead of hot glue to hold it together, and this is what it produced after cutting it free from the rest of the sheet.

Nine and a half of these later, I had this to show for it...

Here's what it looks like once fitted in the boot. Mind you, it's not glued in place, just taped, so the fitment will be much better.

I'm really pleased with the look. Now, I just have to do the other boot, then get everything sealed and ready for paint. Thanks for looking, and keep building and sharing you work for the rest of us to see! :D

This is awesome man, been following it on facebook and on here too. I have to apologize for not reading through the thread to find out myself (just don't have time to sift through 55 pages lol) but did you use foam pep files for this? If so which ones? xx

Thanks phixix! I only used foam for the lower half of the armor, thighs, shins, and boots. The cod was donated. I do have the files for the three I mentioned. PM me your email if you'd like them.

Little update...

I have both boot seals finished and glued into the boots! Pay no mind to the red bit of the seal, I ran out of black foam on the last rib, lol.

I just sprayed the first coat of Plasti-dip on the boots. After several coats, it'll be on to paint. I'm really looking forward to that! :D

Boot's are done!!!

As usual, flat black and flat white spray paints, rubbed down with newspaper and dry brushed with metallic silver.

Next up...Seal and paint the shins. Glad to finally be seeing light at the end of the tunnel. Thanks for looking and commenting, it means a lot! :D

lookin good :p
Thanks Roce! I'm currently in stall mode on the shins as I ran out of Plasti-dip. I'll be picking up more today so that will continue tomorrow. I've been going through and fixing little things here and there, needed regluing, adjusting, things like that. I've also been working on a special project that I'll be making a thread on here shortly. It's starting to take shape quite nicely. Be on the look out for that soon. :D

Bootgasm.

Noice!
Ha ha! Thanks Serin!

I bought more Plasti-dip this morning, and have since sprayed both shins. They'll sit over the weekend, and come Monday I'll be getting some paint on them. Moving right along! :D

I'm inspired. Those boots look great. My stressed cardboard suit has held up surprisingly well, but not the boots. I'm going to rebuild them. Thanks to this, I'm going foam.

Thanks very much Red! I'm glad my build has inspired you. I don't think you'll be disappointed with foam. Best of luck with it! :D

Looks awesome my friend. :cool

Thanks Vern! I appreciate that very much. :D

Shins are now done! I sprayed them white yesterday and finished up the newspaper rub and dry brush silver this morning. I think they turned out pretty good myself. I super excited to put the cod, thighs, shins, and boots on and see what it all looks like together. I would have done it today and got a pic, but my camera man, AKA co-worker is out today. Oh well...on to the pics!

Legs are now completely done. I may add leds but that will be after everything else is finished. After contemplating for a while, and talking with my buddy JUSTINIAN117, I think I'm going to build foam biceps, CQB attachments, and forearms. It means more work, but it'll be sooo much more comfortable. I have to get more foam before I start on these so, it'll be a little bit. Next up, I have to rebuild the small ab plate that sits under the front of the torso. My old one was a bad design. I'll work on it between working on the FUD helmet. Thanks in advance for the great comments, and I'll see you soon! :D
