1st Build Bella’s SB ODST build.

I came across a post this morning from Deviss65 on their ODST repaint. And they mentioned that they used a kind of tint spray that gives a mirror effect on the surface sprayed.
I HAD to try this.
So 1 DIY store trip later and I return with Rustoleum Mirrored Effect in a spray can. Dries in ten minutes and I was told to go light. In fact, incredibly light.

I removed my visor (slightly damaging it in the process, but hey, you learn from your mistakes) and got it outside for spraying. While that cured; I came back in to hollow out the vents on my helmet and place some mesh inside them, to allow some airflow.
Here’s my results. Safe to say I’m chuffed. View attachment 304627
I’m back again now I’ve had my celebrations about making the Waypoint page!
Some minor tweaks and changes are being made.
Such as:
The UNSC logo is now present on my chest plate
The UNSC lettering is now present at the bottom of the chest plate
The name “Chip” now adorns the chest plate
My armour now has a gloss finish.
There are now two straps that run around my forearm gauntlets

Here I go updating again! And this time with a combat knife!
Kindly printed by timmsy2911

My knife came in four parts
Blade
Hand guard
Grip
Knife butt

I fine tuned everything and sprayed each piece prior to assembling it. This just made painting the blade an easier and cleaner task. The knife went together beautifully, and I canny thank timmsy enough for printing that for me.

Next, I faced a challenge. I was to make my own knife sheath. Quickly glancing over a guide as to how to make one, it seemed straight forward.

Since I’m an annoying vegan and don’t like to use any kind of animal product, I used Vinyl for my sheath material. The premise was still the same.
I traced a shape that roughly resembled a trowel, with some extra width on one side for the welt, cut that separate, and then hand sewed the whole thing. I even added a piece with some sewn on Velcro to give the knife some extra hold.

I then went to attach heavy duty Velcro to my sheath to allow it to attach to my chest plate.
I had it tightly secured, and then realised I made a mistake... I had put the Velcro on the wrong side of the sheath.

I removed the Velcro strip, only to find that it also took the too layer of the vinyl with it.

After realising what I had done, a more daunting realisation hit me. I had to do the whole thing again.
Fast forward a day, and you hit the morning of 16/04/2021, where I had made a new trowel shape, and took a slightly different approach to the sewing. I had sewn down the welt on one side of the sheath, instead of sewing the entire thing down at once and using something around 15 pins to do it.
I then sewed the Velcro strap for the knife grip down while the sheath was still unfolded, meaning my strap was perfectly in the middle of the sheath.

Repeat the sewing process until we hit the Velcro stage, where I got it right this time, and now have a much prettier sheath on my chest.

Glad it came without any problems, looks great nice work :D

Hey all! It’s me again. Sorry for the radio silence. Things have been hectic, and I’ve been in and out of doctors like there’s no tomorrow.
In good news, ODST Chip went on her first photoshoot with C.S Arlington, and after a few quick fitting tweaks, I’m proud to declare this ODST is ready to drop into the next con!

That looks really good. Love how you did the chipping. Its just enough to catch attention and make it look worn.

i'm working on some SB Odst bits as well. Do you have any tips for the neck and shoulder stuff assembly? especially the neck seal itself.

Hey there! For the shoulders, I recommend attaching them to a set of sport knee pads. Those angles will line up perfectly.

For the neck, how do you mean? Drop me a message, I’m happy to help!

Hey all!

I want to apologise for the radio silence here. A LOT has happened in my life, and I’ve been busy working on a costume from a galaxy far far away.

The personal things I won’t go into, but I’m proud to show off Chip’s younger, somehow bigger sister, Orion. Orion is a Republic Commando. The Commando armour was number one on my cosplay bucket list, and I just had to build one.

There are two large parts to this kit which were 3D printed. The helmet is a 3D Print, and the blaster is. I learned an awful lot in the way of sanding, filling, and making armour seamless in this build. I’ll be updating parts of chip, to reflect my new techniques and skills.
