Overview
This has been in the works for a year now and only now I've felt somewhat confident to start a thread about it. I've searched all over the internet through broken links and abandoned domains, even the dusty ME prop database on the RPF, just to find some files to help build my suit. I managed to grab the Narayas templates before they disappeared into the infinite void of the internet, but they're only for Mass Effect 2 N7 suits. I want the updated N7 armour from Mass Effect 3, I've SEEN people with the suits, but they mostly free-handed theirs. So I'm in a pickle.

I got my partner to rip the 3D model of FemShep from the game files so that I could unfold it in Pepakura, this has helped a bit, but I'm very picky. I still may need to free-hand some elements of the suit, including the soft armour parts and the boots/shins.

I'm hoping to get this done by June this year, since it's already taken so long just to get a start on it. I've also got another build planned for later this year so this needs to get done soon.

Here's some progress photos just to show that I'm making some effort! All done with kmart EVA, though I want to buy some better foam with different thicknesses, as I've noticed the N7 is actually quite thin to be form-fitting.

If anyone can throw in some advice or resources my way I'd be very appreciative. I'm on a low budget, so my only resources are foam, dremel and heat gun, no woodworking or 3D printing unfortunately. I'm basic/cheap af :)

You’re doing great!! (Most ME cosplayers use foam anyway)

Ahh, im excited to see the finished build! (Huge Mass Effect fan here)

Thanks for your support! I've got a small start on the chest so far, it seems scaled correctly but looks funny, though I can't judge too quickly until it's built - might just need a good spray of heat to shape up! Will update with pics soon!

Quick update! The chest is taking shape now, and it fits great! I think I got the scale down too.

I'm continuing work on it today and hoping to have the back done by tonight. I'll be having the front and back separated at the sides with either velcro or clips so that I can easily put it on/take it off.

If I get time later I'll start detailing the piece as well!

That looks fantastic! I'd recommended not using velcro, though. My experience has been terrible with velcro.

I agree. Velcro has never been reliable for me. I think clips and strapping will do better (especially because they're accurate to the suit anyway!), it's just a matter of making sure the stress of wearing doesnt rip them off!

I finished the back part this morning. I have to free-hand the weapon holster parts (I always thought they were jetpacks) and leaving the detailing for last when I sort out a plan for light installation.

Next up is the collar!

The back is almost done, I built the collar part but obviously it's not complete without the weapon holster thingies. Then I'll get to detailing and strapping (AND LIGHTS!!!).

Might be radio silent for a few days though, I've got lots of work and study lined up for the next few weeks. Hopefully I can fit more building time in the middle of that.
