The first thing I am making is a re-do of my Battle Rifle.

I would like to know from you what I should make second. It's so exciting!

The new props I'm going to make are two from Killzone 2(Helghast SMG & Assault Rifle) and 1 from Halo 3 ODST(Silenced Pistol).

PICS on page 5.

EDIT: BTW it would be handy if someone could let me have 3D models to make the future props(and you "might" get a prototype... you'll get a prototype)

Edit: Back in busyness :D New post on page 5. (10/4/09)

nice dude might try making a sniper or a spnkr also know as a jackhammer rocket launcher

What formats can you use? If my models will work, I'd love to get my SR cut (and I'm willing to pay for it).

You're getting a cnc machine?!! Wow! I'd love to have one myself - just don't think the wife would go for that! Post pics of it once it shows up so the rest of us can drool over it. What should you make? A scale pelican for the McFarlane figures or a warthog. Possibly a grav hammer...

where you getting the money for that?

when i was in this thread earlier, i was thinking the same thing. i dont think he means an industrial style cnc, probably a little hobby engraver thing, like what you get to play with in middle school and make name tags.

or maybe he is rich or he owns a shop, and will actually have a need for a cnc. other than making game props.

Grats on the cnc man. i am in school for machining myself. i assume it going to be a three axis, let me know if you need any help, i am getting pretty decent on featurecam. :) Congrats again, can't wait to see what you start churning out.

To mill something, you have to generate what is called "g-code" for whatever model you're trying to cut out. So the format required really depends on the program you use. Most will take common formats such as .dxf

3d ones cost a LOT of money

True! But you CAN build your own for a 1/10th the cost of a professional machine. The kit I'm working on in my kitchen will end up costing around 500$. Will it cut down to .0005" ? Of course not. Will it cut my armor to a resolution that will blow anything pep out of the water? I sure hope so. :D

If I was getting something CNC'd, I would personally snuf up the model more then that. No point in having a base for the prop if you are spending a few hundred to CNC it. Better to just go all the way.

Model is also too boxy IMO, would have to be pretty high poly anyway, smoothing groups can't be CNC'd :p.

Nice model though, Good for a general reference.
