Hey 405th'ers!

I was wondering how many flight nuts we have here? I know i love flight and anything to do with it. I was searching through the interwebs and foudn this!

http://www.acesim.com/main.html

I know the site is pretty old, but i couldnt believe this existed. A cheap DIY motion platform for flight simulators, and race sims too! Its capable of 2 degrees of freedom, which for a DIY platform is pretty damn good. I found some vids of peeps who put servos on them as well to make some awesome platforms.

I plan on building one of these for myself! Post up if your a flight nut like me, and if you think this would be great in your man-cave!

Known about these things for a long time, some very professional builds out there. I would love to get something set up at some point in the future although I know my wife would kill me lol. The cheapest method of input is simply to strip a keyboard and map out the underlying structure to work out which 2 wires on the interface board make each symbol but a very good (and expensive method) are EPIC boards, there is also SimKits - http://www.simkits.com/index.php - but again very expensive. I look forward to seeing what you do.

BTW Commercial or Military sim?

Found some new stuff! You simmers out there should know about headtracking. well some people hacked wiimotes to make their standard monitors into "touchscreens" Check it out

YOu can also use the wiimote as the headtracker itself. so with two of these, you have a REALLY imersive sim!

I'm planning a F-16C block 52 or a F-16AM Block 15 cockpit.

there's a site that's a resource forum called viperpits. I'm a member there.

From my understanding it's gonna take several K to get a Falcon pit done.
