Thanks guys, the next ones "should" be better, going to experiment a bit tonight with the gel coat layout. Try and cast the rest of the helmet if I have time.

As far as paint it will be PPG tri stage candy red, with a satin finish clearcoat. All automotive grade paint, since I'm part owner of a bodyshop. ;)

Thanks for the link Juice. No I have not seen that, not a big youtube guy haven't seen much on there. :)

But the colour I want to achieve wont be possible with a gold base. ;) I like the CG version which is much darker than the Hero suit much like this statue. Really dig the colour and depth on this. :) Actually really like this design overall.

Thanks guys, it's not flawless but it's pretty good. About an hour of cleanup and fixing a couple of things and it would be pretty nice if I do say so myself. :p

And I got a fairly decent pull last night, here's a few pics. And don't mind the primer it started crazing because I was in a big hurry and didn't clean the release agent off well enough. :unsure

Opps forgot to add, the parts fit perfect the gap on the one side is because the flashing isn't trimed back far enough it fits if I just give it a little push.:)

Raw out of the molds.

And together/apart 10 mins worth of cleaning the flashing and a quick coat of crap primer so you can see the lines and detail. :)

Wow! Seeing these have me going crazy that I have to finish my Master Chief before I can start on Iron Man! You are setting the bar HIGH!

dam i don't know how you keep pulling off this amazing work but keep it up it's incredible.

quick question did you use a gel coat? It doesn't look like it to me, just curious why you didn't if that's the case?

Thanks guys. :)

I'm sure yours will be better, you have experience and all those neat tricks for detail. Remember this is my first build. ;)

Yep used Gelcoat, only way to get those details. :) It's just a clear Gel, I was going to tint it (that's what it's for) but they wanted $75 for a small jar of red tint. Black was $25 should have got the black.

The pull looks great! What did you mold it out of?

As in what are my molds mad of?? If that's what your asking Urethane, silicone here is 3x the price and the supplier said this urethane is specifice for casting polyester resin and glass. They recommended this over the silicone.

Wow looking really awesome mate.

very nice finish.

In fact, beside the fact you havent cut the eye's out it would be hard to tell master from pull.

And Wow!

The gel tint is expensive in Canada

Red and yellow are for sure, the grinding process just like paint. :/ Everything is expensive here, silicone urethane whatever is 50% more than in the US. Makes no sense since our dollar just went above par today. :)

The Helmet looks great, your modesty is unwarranted, especially since you have the technical skill from automotive body repair at hand. Your Helmet looks great and anything less than this great work would be shocking!

Keep Up the Good Job!

P.S. Did you manage to squeeze me in for that bolt kit?

Every time I connect to this thread or my jaw falls, or risk a heart attack ...

Finehead're too good! :eek :D :D :D

As rightly wrote Drgnfyre4, you set the bar really high, at this point I will make every effort, or pieces that I've asked you seem wasted if not do a good job. ;)

AWESOME DETAIL!

Do you have pictures of the bondo stages of the helmet (if you used bondo)

I need to start researching the mold making process as well but I'm not there yet.

Sorry, I meant to say what did you make the casts out of? Can you give specific instructions as to how you made the pull too?
