Acutally, correct me if I'm wrong, somebody, FF3 is based off your settings for your current desktop theme. I use StyleXP, so I have a Halo theme currently, and FF looks like it without even changing a thing. I used IE for a long time before the switch to Firefox. Then, before I got IETab (an add-on to Firefox that allows you to view webpages in either IE style or FF style) when I opened IE to look at my websites, I hated it. The scrolling speed is sooo much slower... I know that isn't too big of a deal, but I was just so used to FFs fast loading and scrolling, that IE started to bug me. I know I'm pretty much rambling here, but here's a few other reasons FF is better, in my opinion.Tater Mane said:I know this.
It just seems like they would have picked a better design for their new browser.
Better security. No site is safe nowadays. You can get a virus from downloading from a site like Microsoft.com anymore! With Firefox, it will automatically block sites that have been flagged as dangerous, but they still give you the option to view it.
Faster loading times. Come on, you pay good money to keep your connection at 100 mbps, I know I do, so why should you have to utilize less of it while browsing online? Sure speed isn't much, but if you're paying for a 100 mbps connection, you should be connecting to websites at 100 mbps. Sure there is probably not a browser out right now that does really utilize 100% of your connection, but Firefox is probably the closest, especially with Firefox 3.
More customization. Internet Explorer, king of the bland layout, in my opinion. Firefox's default theme is the same, but I can change it. I probably have 10 or more themes that I alternate between regularly, all of which I picked myself. I also have a bunch of nifty add-ons like ForcastFox, which allows me to view weather in my area, and RUWT? Sports Toolbar that keeps me up to date on all my favorite sports. Also, it's open source, so I don't have to wait for Firefox to officially release their own add-ons, because faithful Firefox users do it for them. It's fun tinkering with coding like that, and with Firefox, I can do it LEGALLY.
There are a lot of other things, but I thought I'd touch on the ones that really gather people's attention most (just look at other posts, everyone used these exact examples). I personally love Firefox, and I'd probably never use anything different. I'm not trying to change your mind, for that's impossible, but what I am trying to do is let you know some of the great features of Firefox. If you want to read more, go to their homepage or Google 'firefox,' you'll find a lot. Of course, saying it's better than IE is total opinion, it does have a few more features than IE that I personally like. Thanks for reading, I know I made you all go insane with boredom.

Firefox is the tool I use most at work. It's the first browser I test all my websites in. I can't tell you how frustrating it is to develop for IE. Nothing kills me more to see something basic render incorrectly (margins, padding, borders V_V). Firefox produces the most predictable display so I start with it and do workarounds for IE. Also, Firefox supported PNG transparency and tabbed browsing before IE. I feel like if there's a new feature to be had, Firefox will deliver it.
FF3 seems to have load times like Safari but comes with all the goodies I'm used to. A major plus.
From a pure user's standpoint, I think IE is okay, but it just doesn't offer the things I personally need for casual or professional use.
