hey everyone! so... my son always admires my helmet and makes me wear it whenever it catches his eye. He's only 2 and a half so i don't think building an actual helmet would work too well, yet.... SO, i bought an extra spiderman mask, and made some changes. These pictures are at about 95% complete... still have a few tweaks and paint to apply.... PLUS a visor... thinking about buying a 8.5x11 plastic canvas from joann's.... but would need info on how to dye yellow. So any help is welcome. :)

Anyway, thought it was fun and if anyone is interested in doing the same, it's a nights worth of foaming, and then some paint. :)

Here is the original mask

You are going to have one happy kid :) I wish my dad made me cool stuff like this when I was little. Great job!

so i stumbed upon a Bricks Art Store (here in Portland), and it turns out they had some yellow filter plastic... similar to ones you'd use on stage lighting. I got an 18x24 sheet for $3....

Btw... i originally tried a clear plastic Visor i found at ace hardware (motorcycle-esq) for $6.99 and lightly spray painted it with gold... but the vision was just too blurred. You could only make out figures, no details... and because i want him to actually play with the mask (safely) i scrapped it and went with the yellow plastic filter. But here's what it looked like.

it looked cool, but wasn't too functional. Next time i'll probably just get a gold mask off of ebay for $20ish bucks and go that route. Thanks for checkin out my project.
