Hey guys,

I’m currently in the middle of 3D Printing all of my ODST parts for my upcoming cosplay. Helmet, Shoulders and Chest are done, along with some smaller parts.

I’ve looked and found very little information on the Weta Landfall ODST... I was wondering if anyone had any insight on the undersuit, besides the one Build thread I did find here, that seems to have gone silent before the project was complete...

If all else fails I was thinking of using a tactical vest to attach my armor to. Any advice or reference materials would be appreciated!

That tacvest is gonna suck to wear. You can find slimmer, less bulky ones just less than or around the $100 mark if you look hard enough.

The way others have made theirs incorporates the whole torso in one unit that the iconic chest piece attaches to, and from there the sleeves and biceps protrude underneath.

I'm a fan of the landfall helljumpers, keep us updated for sure!

I was thinking the same about the tac vest as well. If I could find something slimmer I’d pick it up. Also, the bicep protectors are what I really want to attach the shoulders to.

Right. There's a build thread that it sounds like you already found that goes over some details like that.

I'd also highly recommend PaiganBoi and Elcorio's ODST builds, because they are incredible. Elcorio I know did his biceps really well for sure.

Could you link me to your build aforementioned?

I believe its page 5 where I was doing the shoulder and bicep pieces. I basically did the same thing you were thinking of as far as using the tac vest set up, but didn't want to drop the money or buy the chest rig. I searched a few websites, looked at the basic shoulder designs for tactical armor and figured "hell, I can make that without all the kevlar and stuff". Learned how to sew and the rest is history. The shoulder mounts secure to my shirt at the top then the strap wraps around my bicep to secure it. My goal for that build was to go completely strapless for all pieces.

Finally getting the Landfall Pep files properly modified for 3D Printing. I’ll be doing the Forearms, Shin/Knees, Boot Caps, and Butt Plate.

Contemplating adding foam and utility fabric to my Chest Plate.

I've made a research thread into the undersuit for the Landfall costumes a while back, never got around to actually sewing some prototypes.

Here's a link if you're interested:
Landfall ODST Soft goods analysis.

I had also did a little 3d modelling a while ago and I could probably provide some models if you need them. Just PM me what you need and I'll see if I can send them (If I even have the ones requested)

Update, Landfall Bracers have been 3D Printed and Painted. I also finished printing the front of the Undersuit as well.

Next I’ll be adding the soft armor parts to the chest Plate, building out the Cod piece from EVA foam and wrapping it all in Utility Fabric I had laying around.

Thighs and Shins will Be Up to print next!

Small Update.
I have all the legs pieces modeled and printed. Shins (front and back) along with thighs. I coated everything in XTC 3D and started post processing them. I also reprinted the Shoulders for the Landfall versions. Very happy with how all the 3D Models turned out.

I went ahead and started adding some mud weathering with Vallejo Weather Effects Acrylic Paint.

Started adding strapping to the shin parts as well. Moving right along. Hopefully I’ll have the bulk of these parts sanded and primed for paint!

Moving right along with the soft Armor parts. I am slowly picking apart yeh remaining “detailed” pieces I need. One of which is the decor on the abdominal plate. Quick work in Fusion 360, about 1.5 hrs of time on my Ender-3 and some PETG... Violà we have the part!

Last will be the retaining clips for the nylon straps and the fabric wrap to complete!

Had a busy evening last night. I pretty much finished up the Abs (minus the clips over the nylon strap)

I painted my Decor pieces with Vallejo Air Steel Airbush Paint, Weathered them up with Liquidtex Black & Burnt Umber, Topped off with Tamiya Weathering Palette Rust Color and a touch of Rub ‘n Buff.

Glued them to the Soft Armor and went to town with Vallejo Weathering Effects Mud. I’m very pleased with the outcome.
