Halo Reach Build - Jorge 052

After meeting members of the 405th at Megacon 2025 I have high motivation to create this armor out of EVA Foam. This year I was in Full 3d printed Mark VI

Goals
  • Easy Suit Up - I know most Spartans need some assistance with suiting up. I want to be able to get most of the armor on by myself, then accessories can be added by spotters.
  • Reduce Weight - Even though the armor will be out of Foam reinforcing it will add a lot of weight to it.
  • Functionality - A big pro to ODST suits is the functionality (Useable Backpacks, Pouches to hold water or Snacks, and sitting down), why can't a spartan have the same thing? I want to make the front canister able to hold a large water bottle and detach from the chest piece so there is always water on hand. Functional backpack, Store some useful tools or items acquired in suit
  • Sitting - I've seen a few Spartans do it. In my 3d printed one the main issue was the Cod piece. With a strong material for the armor and elastic bands for the belt I should in theory be able to sit down.
  • Cooling, A whole lot of it - Everyone does the helmet, if not you are just asking to be uncomfortable. I've heard of people adding cooling to the armor itself. Being in Florida the days get extremely hot so if possible I want to at least add vents and fans to help cool my body.
Dude! So glad you're starting this, it's gonna be Awesome! Can't wait to work on my upgrades together while you do this one!
I plan on 3d printing it. I'll try that out. I know the basics in Blender so I'll give it a shot.
Let me know if you need help with this too! My and my colleagues use this for a living.
Small update. Found most of the pdo files for Jorge. Got it all sized and used a CNC machine this weekend to cut the pieces
How did this go for you? My next suit, I plan to do just this - I'm building the CNC now, and as soon as I'm done I want to start - would love to hear what worked and what didn't.

Good luck man, can't wait to see it!

It's been a minute but I've still slowly been making progress!

First, the helmet!

I did the holds on the sides and front. Still need to find a decent model for the details that will do in there and there is a lot of sanding needed for the seems.

And now for my favorite part of this project. The M247 from Oddworks.

This thing is massive and I LOVE IT. This makes me want me armor so much more now. It's about 5ft long and Id say about 15lb. I am still finishing some other parts for this on the top but it's pretty much done being built. Next will be spending months painting this bad boy. Luckily the layer lines was .16 so it doesn't seem to need much sanding if any. I'll also be working on getting a turret stand built for this to so it can be a prop for the booth! I can't wait for people to see and feel this thing.

As for the foam armor I have not started anything as I haven't had the time to pull it out and cut it up. I plan on starting that in the beginning of June. With just this stuff done so far it's getting me so excited for the next convention.
