If you have access to a mouse sander I'd personally recommend going once over on the helmet raw before applying any filler. the friction should wear in a lot of that mess on the back section. I've had to do something similar to a few of my parts and that helped immensely before I applied any Bondo or filler primer.
Thank you for the advice! I was thinking a light sand and resin for the back side. Green stuff for the seams and then another sanding before using filler primer and a bondo/acetone mixture. I don't know if that's a good plan or not though.

Any sort of light sanding with 60-80 grit will definitely help wear down the layer lines, not too sure about green stuff for this kind of work. My method on all my parts has been to sand at 80 grit, followed by some primer, Bondo in the larger rough spots, then primer, obviously sanding down in-between layers. I think i work my way up to 320 grit on the final layer but im not sure, go until your happy with the smoothness.

Be warned that if you go too heavy with your primer you may remove small details your trying to keep, I made the mistake of doing too heavy of a spray and almost filled in some of the "detail lines" on the dome of the helmet.

Thank you for the advice! Will definitely be using it! Regarding the green stuff, it was to fill the giant gaps in the seems. Mostly unseen areas that are too deep for bondo and resin.
