looks great. really enjoyed seeing this come together. the only thing that is slightly distracting is the pump. its a little squarish, but its nothing a bit of sanding/ chiseling/ dremel work cant fix :) again looks great and i cant wait to see it finished

Thanks for the replies everyone!

@ Lee..

Is that sort of the way that you do yours?

@Soul Products

Yeah man, i know, i need to sand the bugger down tonnes. I'll definately get it down to a respectable state. :D.

Cheers, Dave.

I'll upload another video or pictures sometime this week. :D.

Yes an No.

You can see the pin in the back and how a block goes up inside an a pin goes through the top and the block attached to the bottom.

Its getting there. Still needs a lot of cleaning up and refining. :S. Other than that...
Cheers, Dave.

Looking very good so far XxCALIBERxX. I think I recognise those blueprints. :p

The rail on top looks great as does the bracket at the front. I'd agree that the pump still needs some work, but you know that already.

How's the scale? Is the finished product going to come in at 970mm? And was there any issues with the blueprint I should review? I'd love the feed back, I was very happy with that particular one.:)

Woah sorry guys! The net went down for a while and i haven't been regularly checking in...

@Thorn696

Thanks man! Appreciate it! :D.

@Killjoy95

Thanks lad! I can't wait either!

@AbbyWanKenobi

Thankyou very much! :D.

@Juliet76

They are indeed your blueprints! And wonderful blueprints they are! Everything seems to measure up about right as is. I still need to do the dowels for the barrels but i'd say it would come out at around the 970mm mark. :D.

Thanks for the positive criticism. Its getting there slowly... Stupid school. :p.

I have nothing negative to say about the blueprints. They were perfect and i would be nowhere without them. (mind you this is the first time i have ever used blueprints so i wouldn't know what to look for, but at no point did i sit there looking at them thinking.. 'What the???') :D.

And i still need to thank you for that! Thankyou very much! Cheers!

One thing i was going to ask though. Is how do you think the pump is attached to the gun? I've got a dowel with a spring on it attached to the pump but i doubt that it by itself will have enough strength to support the pump. I thought there could be a slit cut the length of the (bit that the pump slots into) and have some sort of railing on the inside of the pump (that keeps it in place, maybe two pins?). But i dunno... (Sorry if you didn't undersatnd any of that i will upload a picture later.)

@Mensrea Pro

I reckon! I'm dying to see what it'll look like painted. :D.

Okay everyone, i will have an update sometime this week. I've started sanding it down with some finer grit and i'll be latheing the dowels sooner or later. So stay tuned! :D.

Cheers, Dave.

Dave,

Here's a blueprint I did of just the pump that shows how I interpreted it to fit to the slideway. In reality it would probably slide on from the front and attach to the loading and ejection system with pins or screws, the front bracket would then go on and help retain it.

M45PumpReference.gif

Here's also my a link to my M45 photobucket showing other reference stuff-

How I would probably go about attaching it is by a couple of dowels at the back of the pump sticking into grooves in the slideway as guides and then one pin that runs through the pump and the gun that connects to a compression spring or tension spring. One thing though if you go with a tension spring- make sure it doesn't have much room to move side-to-side, up-and-down, they tend to make a twangy sound that detracts from the cool effect your'e chasing if you give them room to move.

Glad to hear you liked the blueprints and that they've served you well, you're doing them justice so far mate. Looking forward to seeing more.;)

Awesome man! Thanks for the prints of the pump! :D. I think i'll go with what you said, seems like the best thing to so in this case. And thankyou very much for the compliment.

I've had a lot on guys, so i will try and get some more done sooner or later, preferably sooner and you can see what i am up to. :D.

Cheers, Dave.

Excellent job. One of the best shotguns I have seen in my limited experience! I will be following your updates closely; have you got any plans for ejecting the shells at all?

Thanks guys! And I'll nom nom on that cookie for sure.

My mate recently gave me the lathe and i have turned the barrels. So expect to see an update at some point soon. I'm in the process of casting a few Jun Helmets at the moment, so process could be slow. But i'll get there eventually. :D.

Thanks for the support guys.

Cheers, Dave.

Poplar wood! Wonderful stuff! Just get in there with a dremel and its like hard cheese. Wonderful to work with. And i think that it really doesn't have much of a grain, its almost like you can just slice bits of it off. :D.
