How Do I Convert .skp Files Into .pdo's?

if you intersect all the geometry then make it a component it will help with open edges.

(for windows users) press CTRL+A then right click select intersect> all selected, then right click> make component.

make sure you explode all components before doing this.

Yes, yes, I know this is a necro post, but its a valid questions and instead of making a new topic, I thought because its relaited, I might as well ask it here.

Is it possible to somehow export a .PDO (pepakura Designer 3.0.7) file into a .SKP (Google Sketch-up) file? Is so, could somebody quickly lay out the process of how to do so?

Thanks!

Tried that, and it says, "non recognised file type" or something like that. And I have the full-blown version of Pep, so it's not that...

i also realize this is a necro, albiet a major one, but i cant seem to get any edges for my .skp files whn converted to .kmz, pepakura absolutley hates them and seems to merge 9/10ths of the edges. please, someone help.

What I do is export my files as .dae then open with Meshlab: http://meshlab.sourceforge.net/ and save as .obj. It works in most cases but I still need to figure out some of the kinks in the process.

a dae file is used ONLY for google maps

It works for 3D printers as well, mostly European.

Seems like no one else uses maya on here, hmm. Oh well, for those that do use maya here is how I check the mesh before pepakura.

For open edges, as well as non-manifold faces/verts I just turn on (Display Border Edges) which highlight edges that aren't connected in the gui. You can adjust the display size of this. Then I run the (Clean Up) geometry option and toggle remove non-manifold geometry in the options box. If there are still open edges displayed I delete adjacent faces and use an (Append Polygon) tool to fill holes. :)

What they said pretty much answers your question.

what i usually do is save it as a google sketchup 6 format, then i open it in google sketchup 6 and export a .kmz.

then if it has problems in pep i just go int sketchup and fix any oddities.

you can download google sketchup 6 HERE

hope it helps. :)

Ok, I realize this is a necro but I can't find a suitable place to post this I'm trying to make a BC Rich Son Of Beast guitar via Pepakura. I've tried and tried to export some 3d models to real life size but it won't let me. I downloaded google sketchup and converted it to .DAE and .kmz and I go to 2d Menu>Change Scale> and its all greyed out. Neither of those 2 file types work.
