How to Mold objects (Video tutorial series)

Lol they must have taken advice from the makers of the big mouth beer cans.

Haha yeah .

Ok all , I have some sad news -

So I woke up this morning and went straight to the mold . I used Eaes-Release 205 for the first time on this mold (I usually use Vaseline as a mold release) . When I opened up the mold box , to my horror I found that the Ease-Release had not worked! The two halves were fused together . So , this will be the "what to do when something goes wrong" section of the videos lol

Here is part 2! I hope you guys enjoy it!

Now a question for you guys to answer -

What kind of mold would you like to see next?

A 1 piece block mold
A brush on latex mold

Thanks!

Awesome job, thanks for the tut!
Im so happy that something went wrong!!
Wait... That could be taken the wrong way...
Its helpful to see that things go wrong, it provides an extra layer of learning for us, those who are not familiar with the mold and cast process.

Very helpful!
Thank you again!
Cereal.

I get what you're saying lol I think it's always easier to see what to do when something goes wrong!

Thanks! The next will be a simple 1 piece block mold . I started sculpting a face last night as a simple object to mold in the video . I'll have it done by the end of the week! Remember to tell me which of the three options you would like to see next! (they can be found at the bottom of the first post)

Yeah....
see.. the problem is, I want to see them all!
For me, doesn't matter what order
Bring'em on!

Once again, thank you for this!
Much appreciated!

Dave.

Great tutorial Jacob! I'm glad you were able to save the mold, be it small so you didn't have to start all over again. I look forward to more of these.:D

Hey Jacob,
I actually do have a question for you:
What type of clay do you use with molding? Does it require a specific type? Unrelated, but if you know; would this be the same type of clay used to sculpt and mold from?

Thanks,
Cereal.

Thanks Tony !

I am using Van Aken oil-based clay. I would recommend a sulfur free clay , as it can prohibit the cure in some silicone's and RTV rubbers . This is the type of clay you can sculpt from . I actually sculpted my original Reach hand plate out of this clay and molded it. In the next video , I will be molding a small sculpture of a face that I have been sculpting out of the same clay I used in the first video . Thanks for asking!

Also everyone - This thread may help you out as well with your builds .

Thanks!

Hey guys! I'm almost done with the sculpture I will be molding in the second video! Hang tight everyone!

I have a question!
I am going to be sculpting (trying) a handplate out of clay. How would you mold such a piece being that it cannot be mounted onto clay being that it is made of clay.... or can you??

Thanks,
Cereal.

I'll post some example of different molds on the first post!

Thanks for asking!

**UPDATE**

I filmed a new video last night! I'll try too upload it tonight . It shows how to make a one-part mold of a small object that would normally require a two-part mold . I'll try to have it up later! Thanks!
