Jorge Armor: WIP

excellent pep work dread! don't worry about the pace slower is better! that way you won't rush and make bad folds or glue pieces together the wrong way. you can really tell how much time and effort you put into your suit so work at a pace comfortable for you! good luck on the rest of the build!

Thanks, guys. I'm on the most time consuming step of the torso armor and backpack- scoring and cutting.

The scoring is going much better now that I use a metal ruler and an inverted drill bit in a pin vise. Make nice, clean score marks and I can run an entire line in one quick shot. It'll probably be a weekend or two before I get the parts cut and begin assembling them. I'm suspecting I'll have to upsize this one, as well.

I need to find out if anyone has any good reference pics of Jorge's gun and are willing to share them. I'm working on getting a new pep file put up with the help of another member here. Neither one of us has the free time to spend to collect images (part of why my project has slowed down).

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

There's a couple places. I'm pretty sure that there is a reference image thread here on the forums somewhere, so i'll look for it if I have time, or someone else can link you to it. I've also heard that bungie has a photogallery as well for this stuff, but what i suggest is if you have time to quickly play a level in campaign (the first one in particular, winter contingency) as a lot of time is spent with jorge, and you get a good look at his gun in the falcon parts

I don't have the game system, man. I haven't played since Halo 2. However, I'd appreciate you looking into that, and I'll see what I can find on Bungie's site.

Thanks,
Dread

I use regular old low-temp hot glue. You don't need to use much, since the glue only has to hold until you resin your piece for the first time. If you're messing it up or burning your fingers, you're probably using too much glue.

Yea, ok. I'll look into that for you. I'll post a link either in this post, edited, or in another post.

EDIT: http://www.405th.com/showthread.php...ead-*Pic-Heavy-Spoilers*?highlight=screenshot

That's the link. The picture is, however, not in the thread to my knowledge. There's a couple image packs to download, and I haven't gone through them, but I doubt that it's in there. I also looked on google and there's virtually nothing. I'll look into taking pictures and putting them on my bungie.net account so you can use them.

Thanks, bud. I looked that thread over and saw nothing on the chain-gun, but did see the Spartan Laser and a few other weapons. I left a request for screen shots there, too.

I appreciate the help. If I can get this ball rolling, we'll have a good pep file for public use again.

yea. A ton of people have been requesting it, so some time or another someone'll model it. In the meantime, scratchbuild is the answer!

I'm about half way through scoring the next set of parts to prep for cutting out. I'm already thinking that this is going to be too small, but I think it will be best to go ahead and find trouble spots on this one. I'll build it and then use what I learn to build the one that will fit.

I think Jorge is on the back burner for now... I just got my "Thorssoli Special" and I'll be working on getting it finished out and turned into a suit. The parts look pretty good, overall, though I am worried about fit of some of the pieces...

Nooooooooooooooooo! (In my best vader episode 3 voice) J/K, Enjoy the "Thorssoli Special", But you better finish your Jorge build! BTW, Nice pep skillz my man.

Updates have been slow going since I just have not had time to work on either suit for the most part. Working a full-time job, a part-time job, and then doing a lot of extra time on duty with the Guard has slowed me down a lot.

I have made some progress on what I call my Thorsolli Special. I will try to get more done this weekend, weather permitting. I went to Comicon at Dallas and saw a few really cool looking costumes... Not a single one of which could have held a candle to Shawn's molded Master Chief suit. I guess I have a refill on my motivation...

Motivation is a bust when you just don't have time. Man... I just found out I'm stepping up for more TDY's and deployments over the next year. That's ok, though. It'll give me plenty of time to trim down to where I want to be personally before I put a suit on. I've dropped 20 pounds since getting this started, and I figure I have 30 more to go before I don't look like an overstuffed Jorge or Master Chief.

On the plus side, I do now have some excellent pics and a few rudimentary peps to work on the chain-gun... That's the last hurdle other than time.
