Great job on the SMG so far! I really like how it turned out!
As Boba Fett had pointed out, you should use resin or bondo to make the SMG a little more cleaner. However, I disagree.
Being one of the more knowledgeable members here when it comes to cardboard, I know that regular, un-reinforced cardboard can not properly support resin or bondo. You need to reinforce the cardboard first by adding a precision made "coating" with cereal box board. Something like I did with my Weta version Battle Rifle. (Please forgive the picture, I hope I'm not steeling your thread).
If you do things right, I have discovered you can completely pass the bondo stage all together. However, if you need bondo, mix up some thick rondo (20% resin, 80% bondo and use the cream hardened the bondo comes with). Also be sure to not sand down to the cardboard. Trying to get the fluffiness out of your finished weapon is really hard to do if you sanded right down to the cardboard, and will effect the overall look of your prop.
Also, try to avoid the double, triple and so on posting. Use the "Multi Quote" button or simply edit your last post. Double posting could get you a warning or banned.
Anyway, good luck with the rest of your project, and your projects to come.
Cheers!
Haha, sorry... I didn't see that. but yeah, thank you for pointing that out.
