Member Of The Month

He's been around for a while, but I nominate Pooper. He's been very helpful in answering any questions he's been asked regarding his methods of armor-making. If he's out of the running for his current armor set, then I nominate Nightshade. He's been very open to criticisms about his modeling and works very fast in sharing his revisions with the community.

I don't understand how a new member wanting something makes them deserving of it. I think that if they REALLY REALLY want it, they'll work hard to get it and it'll be all the more satisfying.

my sugestion go to last spartan not because is my friend but because i see all is effort to help the new member on the forum , also for is incredible work for the french halo fan site halo.fr whit the creation/translation of news and article .

i would like to nominate Lee keegan for it. Lee is constantly working on weapons for everyone and some for himself. So i would liek to throw his hat in the ring

I'm thinking Lee already has most of Ithica's stuff... what about people who are prop-less? We gotta change the title of this from Member of the Month to, Prop Welfare Recipient. Since, the "winner" isn't necessarily a "member of the month".

I think "Member of the Month" is a good title Adam. Its just you need to be more detailed with the qualifications.

Minor Details like "SHOULD NOT CONSIST OF HIGHER RANKED OR WELL KNOWN MEMBERS!"

The reason for this is because this is for the Noob Forum! If us Noobs had any idea of what was going on then we wouldnt be noobs! So you can restrict the qualifications to those with Member Status! I mean unless you want those who are not paying attention nor giving the new members a chance to win the "Title" of Member of the Month since they always want to nominate persons who have armor and such....

Just make it known louder, ill even start it

DO NOT NOMINATE BECAUSE OF WHAT THEY HAVE DONE, BUT ALSO FROM WHAT THEY LACK!!!

Example: I nominated Spartan-Mills117 because of his ambition to learn and begin his own armor!! He does not have armor so he may qualify for this title in the "Armor Outreach Program!" Lol If you give members like Lee Keegan and Ithica their own sets of armor then what is the point in having a prize? The New members who are here as beginners and dont have the fundimentals of gaining the experience to build their own stuff should be the only ones qualified for recieving a prize.

Thats my two cents I apologize if anything seems harsh or radical, I just want to help benefit this assortment of ideas and get it to blossom!!!

Much Cheers and Hopes,

Chris Gold

Sorry to clutter up the thread even after I told myself that I would stay out of it but...

I would have to disagree with the idea that just because this is posted in the Noob forum that it is only for those of noob status. Ithica (and others) routinely post topics in here simply because of the additional exposure. Not to be overly negative but take a good long look at the complete membership lists. Thousands and thousands of members and how many are actually active? The vast majority of new members do not stay with the hobby or even the 405th. The lucky few do stay with us and become active contributing members but the unfortunate reality is that most do not. The last thing I think we want to do as a group is starting handing out "welfare props" (thanks Adam ;) ) to people who will more than likely be gone in a month. It would be a real shame to see a top quality prop on Ebay just because someone lost interest after a few weeks and moved on to another hobby...

I recommend the reverse approach - these props need to go to people who have established themselves as dedicated to the 405th and willing to stick with it. I would almost recommend a minimum active time frame/post count/project status to be eligible. Why in the world would you exclude someone who has already something nice? Those are the same people who have made a real commitment to this hobby and the 405th community. They are also more likely to appreciate the prop that they receive. There are plenty of people out there who have been with us for a while (and been working hard to help others in the community) that for whatever reason (family, finanical, no shop, whatever) could use a hand. In my opinion these are the people who should be eligible for something like this...

Thanks my opinion and I'm stickin' to it!

I think this is a great idea Dave.

I'd like to nominate Kensai111. He's always been a nice guy on the forums and is always willing to help those with questions.

Plus his work on the E-zine that was and the now current 405th site is simply outstanding. Oh and also his artwork he submitted for the E-zine was great and must have taken a lot of time and effort.

All the best to those who are nominated.

Edit: I would have to agree with Dogwizard on his above comment:

"these props need to go to people who have established themselves as dedicated to the 405th and willing to stick with it. I would almost recommend a minimum active time frame/post count/project status to be eligible."

I would deffinately recommend concidering members who have proven their ongoing interest in this hobby and have stuck it out here for quite some time.

I agree with you, DogWizard.

But I don't think someone who has already made a lot of their awesome armor and weapons even needs an extra prop. What about someone who is making continual progress on their armor but relatively new here? If they're working hard on their stuff and making steady progress, I don't think they'd leave the community.

Rundown is defiantly one of the one's that comes to mind.

He's supplied us with many, many great models to use for our armor.

+1

Well, since Ithica has already disqualified himself by virtue of being a Moderator, I don't see that as a valid objection. LeeKeegan on the otherhand - why should he be disqualified exactly? Does he make armor (or even have armor)? What about helmets? Lee is a perfect example of someone who has really contributed to this community and has tremendous skill in his area of expertise. I'm not saying that this is the case but what if he can't sculpt clay or has issues with pepakura? Should he be disqualified for everything just because of his prodigious skill in a particular area?

I don't think Ithica (or anyone else for that matter) plans on making this a "Senior Member Prop Swap" to the exclusion of newer members. It just needs to be based on contribution, dedication, AND need.

Just something to think about...

Definatly Moonwildflower, her instructions on the neck coverthingy is really detailed and and she always keeps people uptodate with everything

I'm nominating Roxas 56. She has pretty sweet armor and she always helps me on xbox live whenever I have an armor question.

Hmm... Dogwizard does bring up interesting points. Something to think about there.

But I’m here to give my votes out to some of the members here. There’s so many members here who have contribute to this forum, it’s really hard to choose one. I’d say any of the 3D modelers, such as Rundown, Nightshade, or Robogenises. They’re so busy making 3D models on a computer, when will they find time to make a prop?

And Mr. Oreo, thanks for the nomination! I wasn’t expecting to see my name mentioned... That alone is enough of a prize to me. Thanks again, I really appreciate that. :)

I nominate Keegan, because, like many young, but active members here, making a suit and other props is something that is at the top of our priorities, but money is what is making that goal very difficult to grasp. Like myself, Keegan has been trying to continue working on his Arbiter suit for a VERY long time. And if we are focusing on what Adam has said, Keegan would be a wonderful canidate.

If we're allowed to nominate more than one person, I'd also like to add one more name to the drawing hat.

Rvb4life

Good god, this guy has helped me many times, and has been active for at least 2 years I think. The terrible thing is though, I don't think he even has any finished armor of his own. He's tried so hard in the past, but has never finished anything that I've seen. He has helped so many people on here, and it'd be a darn shame not to nominate him. Rvb4life, this one's for you man. :cool

+1 for MoonWildFlower. She's the one who originally got me into pepakura in general and the 405th in particular. On the forums she's keeping everyone up to date, has a great tut on the neck piece and is coming up with new ideas to improve armor-making in general.

To clear things up a bit. Everyone minus the donator him/herself is intitled to be nominated. I understand all valid debates on this topic. The initial plan was to provide some props for those who may be less fortunate than other but are still very dedicated to 405th. I do agree that people like Rube, Lee, Charlie and many other well known Members have been here and been supportive all this time and that is why they should be recognized as well. The reason there hasn't been set qualifications is because they change based on the donator. The donator determines who is worthy. If he/she decides it will be a noob then so be it, if they decide it will be an old head then so be it, it is even ok if they draw from a hat. Each person is giving up their work so they decide on who it goes to and why. That sweem pretty easy and fair. So let's all keep names coming and let the donators choose. Let's not get to complicated and enjoy the surprise and fun.
