Wow, I had no idea that you used a plaster mold to make that helmet...

You should be able to get mold rubber shipped to your location.

Polytek has a trail kit that they do for first time customers that is only like $30... should be enough to make a thin mold of a mask. You should give it a try, and make some copies of the Dr Doom mask!

Sean,

Thanks for the heads up on the starter kit. I think I will give it a try. ;)

As for the Doom project, we started out with a plaster mold, and once the prototype came out, worked on it being as clean and as perfect as possible. Once that was achieved, a silicone rubber mold, with a fiberglassed reinforced resin jacket was created over that.

Stay safe,

Tim.

Hey Sean,

those Molds are amazing! Very clean and look pretty easy to work with. I think that you should make a tutorial on how to make these molds, or you could sell some molds, so that other people may try this method them selfs.

thanx

I didn't mean hurry up and get on it, I meant thats its a good idea to do.
But you are so busy at the moment that you shouldn't care.

I would be nice to wash my car, its a little dirty :grouch:

I want to share with all of you and those new to mold making some information, I used these books when I used to work at a local Haunted
House in my area. The structure of the rankings were Lords and Knights
My title was Lord of Props and my job was to make the props for the
different rooms and help do make-up.
I had a budget and was allowed to buy what ever materials I thought
I would need to help me with my Job, One of the items I bought was
a set of books from Cast craft.
For those of you who want to start doing your own mold making and casting, I highly suggest buying these books one of the books is a source guide for materials and is well worth the price of the set of books.
It saved me alot of time when looking for materials
I have been making molds and casting for the past 25 plus years
and I still do not know everything but if you have any questions
please feel free to ask here or PM me.

Sean's mold work is just out standing and I am in awe of his talent

Hope this helps any body that is looking to get into this hobby
