I built this CQB style helmet from scratch for a project I am doing. I built it for scaling purposes, and it has been useful, but I did not design it to be perfectly accurate. When I took it into school to discuss my project with the technology department, one teacher got very excited about it and demanded to have his picture taken in it. The guy pictured is the teacher who will be helping me along with my project, and since he has a storm trooper costume of his own, is technically a 501st member. My project will end up looking like the suit in my sig with any luck, and although I've already started, I won't have anything interesting post until I've finished the mould for the first piece, the boot.

If anyone's interested in what I'm doing, this is it:

  1. Glue together thick pieces of MDF in the rough shape of a piece of armour
  2. Cut the block of MDF along three planes according to respective blueprints
  3. Shape, texture and sand the block until it resembles the piece you want to make
  4. Resin and lay up the piece to produce a negative of you armour piece
  5. Resin and lay up the negative to produce and exact copy of the MDF in fibreglass
  6. Add details and aluminium reinforcement in some places
  7. Prime and paint

However, I'll make another topic for this nearer the time. Just thought you might like to see my mock up.
