My Spartan Laser

Well, this is going to be the first prop i "attempt" to make. I first went to Halopedia to see what i could find.

I took the small wireframe image and ran it through photoshop and made this scale model. This is the one i will print.(I'm gonna clean it up more later)

Halopedia says that the laser is 98.8 cm long, so i made the laser this size but it seems too small. (The image starts and ends and each end of the laser.)

I went to walmart and purchase a peice of styrofoam thats 1"x12"x36" to at least cut out the basic shape and to get me started. (I know its a little short)

I was thinking that i could get maybe like 6 of these and put them together to scupled the laser and use smaller peices of styrofoam to add different parts to it. Is this a good idea, what do you guys think?

I purchased the foam sheet at walmart. Then i just enlarged and cleaned up a pic i found of the laser. After that i just printed it out on i think 7 or 8 sheets and tacted and taped them to the foam board. I'm going to buy like 6 more of those boards and glue them together. Then im goin to do my best to carve a spartan laser. Im not sure of what to do after i have it all carved out so im going to need some help from the pros. Because this is basically my first project.

i tried making a pistol and it kept craking and falling apart. that foam should be illegal,
and it is a pain in the @$$ to cut.

Lol he fiberglasses it (hopefully) afterwards so it's not brittle.

how do you plan on making it thicker (wider)?

I plan on glueing or bonding 7 of them together. After i get the first on cut out i will use it for a template for the others, then start sanding the block.

Also, i dont know what else to use besides that foam.... I'm a n00b.

use poster board

RESIN WILL MELT THE FOAM SO TRY TO FIND ANOTHER MATERIAL

if you spray it with a sealer you might get lucky.
