Hey folks, well after a good weekend at Ithicas, and another at Privateers, we now have a couple of new projects to show. I've been working on the new FlexFoam cods, pouches and buttplates, and here is a little vid to show them off...enjoy.

wow that stuff looks great but is it more expencive that the plastic cast or resign? And your paint looks looks great too. i envy you guys in Texas because its so easy to just pop down and set things up

This stuff looks so incredibly promising!... and comfortable on the delicates!

Quick question though, could this stuff be a possible option for people that want to make aesthetically accurate undersuits? (i.e. sculpting the details of the undersuit, creating a mold of that and then using the flexfoam). I know it's flexible, but is it stretchy at all? Would it be stretchy if it was in a lesser density?

Great work!

VERY nice!

Just one thing, KIDS!!! Common, we deserve more than that! LOL!

The cod piece seriourly looks awesome! Sadly Im out of funds at the moment due to my project, but when I have some spare cash, I'll defenatly PM one of you guys for one.

CHEERS!

Okay guys, Expense: Not an issue, the smooth cast 300 and 320 cost about $150-$170 for a gallon kit (gallon A-gallon B = 2gal.) . FlexFoam cost $150-$170 for a gallo kit (gallon A - 2 gallons B = 3gal.) so you actually get more material. Plus flexfoam expands up to x2, where resin actually shrink .05% on average. 6oz total is all I used to make the cod piece. Ar far as detail, I'd say you could cast in Flexfoam 5 and get all good a cast as any resin, or even latex... Plus FF5 is very light, and semi stretchy, so you might be able to cast undersuit componnents with ease. I'll post the pouches sortly and you will be able to see the level of detail I'm talking about.

Looks Great! Detail and "surface finish" have been my two biggest concerns about trying FlexFoamIt. I like to sand/clearcoat and the foam pieces I've seen always seem "rough". I look forward to seeing you detail shots of the pouches...

Again - Nice Job!

Here you go guys, Pouches are up....

thanx for the comments...

Having a pair of FlexFoam Boots ((at least that is what I think it is))...from Adam....(many thanks)...let me tell yah: They are great! Didn't have to worry about someone stepping on my foot or me "jogging" in my boots and having the impact destory them. The FlexFoam is tough stuff. you can't rip them apart!
Now a FlexFoam COD peice would be great!! Having a 300 resin one...it barely fits my waist. Having a flexible one would be great. But I still really like my resin one!!
Good work guys.

I want a flex foam lower half but I don't want to have to pay a large amount for casts. It's cheaper to make lower half yourself. It's like I want to be able to flex foam it myself but there is way more work and costs to be done for that...

Great job. They look awesome.

Your voice reminds me of the old car salesman comercials when I was a kid. LOL

Does the foam work in the traditional open molds, or did y'all have to engineer completely enclosed molds?

it will work in complete open molds. You swish it the same way. The cure time is longer but worth it.

Foam for "down there", that just makes sense. lol great work~!

I saw your plasma grenade pics, they are awesome.

Might seem like a stupid question but are conventional car spray paints work with the foam pieces or would the paint crack when flexed? Would you have to use only water based paints?

Damn those look good!! That type of material is perfect for the cod piece!! Sitting down has always been an issue. Having the flexibility of the foam would be a huge help!

Well "Red", I've found that acrylic, bruchable paints work best for painting these without the flex-crack issue... But I've also painted FlexFoam with Latex paints like those I use for latex masks, and have had even better results. The price of the latex paints is about the same as the acrylics, but not a readily availible...

in the times I have used this stuff (mostly flexfoam-IT X) I find that skinning the mold with a layer of latex, or urethane rubber does an amazing job to keep a smooth finish, and still keep the piece nice n flexible/comfortable.

And if you tint the urethane before you skin the mold with it you have an instant permanent basecoat. The only paints you'll need afterwards are just some black and silver for weathering & shadows.

Excellent job and sweet Predator stuff in the background!
