Is it just me, or does it look like, so far, this game will have no player-controlled flight? I haven't seen a single Banshee or Hornet, and the only flight I've seen occur at all is Covenant troop drops or being ferried in Falcons. Even this far off, the others (CE excluded) had signs of in-game flight, didn't they?

Ever occured to you that the falcons whre RE-ENFORCED in the trailer?

I think the Falcons will play an important role at some stage, they where designed for a reason... For carrying a whole squad instead of a single spartan.

In game flight will propably exist, you always have that one big moment when you get to fly.

Halo ce Banshee in the ice level. Halo 2 Banshee chase after heretic leader, Halo 3 hornet.

Halo 3's first pictures didnt have flying stuff, someone thought a Spike grenade was a Helicopter though :p

Hits stands in the UK today.

My local Barnes & Noble sells it as an import, but won't reach shelves in the US for a couple weeks. If nobody beats me to it, I'll be buying it and scanning everything when I see it here.

The worlds largest cookie to who can find a larger picture of that magazine cover!

Well, yeah. I mean, I know the Falcons are gonna be huge in the game. They're the main transport to the various locations. However, I meant player-controlled flight. So far, we've seen nothing that supports it. Albeit, we haven't seen anything that disproves it.

I really hope they do keep in-game flight. Those levels made their respective games a lot more fun. Halo wouldn't be the same without the Banshee.

And, as I can recall, Halo 3's announcement at least had Banshees in it. :p

(Now, I gotta say it...)

I wanna fly Pelicans and Phantoms. :lol

My best guess would be sometime around late Febuary, early/mid March... Or atleast I hope.

This reminds me: I need to steal ODST from my 12-year-old cousin, who only plays MW2 lately. He'll never notice it's gone. MUAHAHAHAHA!

EDIT:

Since I don't like double-posting, I'll edit this post for news.

The Reach HUD is no longer yellow, but blue, according to the 1/22/10 Bungie Weekly Update. "Because Marcus said so."

Found the Edge yesterday but was in a really big rush through town :(

It looked like it had a 2 double page spread (or was it 3...) with only 1 or 2 new pictures we haven't seen yet.

I'm still trying to get my scanner working so I can post some absurd resolution scans of Gameinformer.

Somewhat disappointing, that Edge thing, but since it seems to be the British equivalent of GI, I guess we can't expect too much in the way of varied content.

The funny thing is that other countries in Europe dont get any news of Halo reach.

It's contridicting, technically scans are illegal, but how could they be for countries who cant even order the magazine?

Scans are technically illegal, but as far as a magazine goes, I've never seen a case where the scanner, distributor, or any of the consumers were prosecuted.

The thing is, copyright law is international, therefore consuming scans in countries where the media is not provided legally is still illegal.

Anywho, to get back on topic, what's the general opinion on the return of the blue HUD?

I'm glad it's 'returned' to blue, I'm still a little annoyed that they moved the shield bar from untop of the motion sensor to the top mid of the hud (Halo 2 -> Halo 3)

So I'm glad there is no dramatic change, small changes always annoy me when you have played something for years :p

Go Marcus!

I'm glad it's blue because I'm a little paranoid and with an ODST's HUD would be yellow and then a Spartan's being the same color, just doesn't seem to fit.

I always preferred having my Shield Meter at the top of the HUD. No matter what part of the top, so long as it's there. The Halo 2 meter was... Lacking.

I'm not sure if I'll miss yellow, but at the same time, read my signature. I think it woulda been cool to have a yellow HUD. Just not the way ODST did it.

Ok, just bought the Aussie Gameinformer magazine, and took out a subscription, and reading through the article I found a discrepency. On page 44 when they discuss the team they say "Emile-239 is the silent type. His helmet is painted with the visage of a skull, and he lets his actions speak for him"

But as Bungie has said earlier, the skull was scratched into his helmet, so which is true?

What do you think of the hud sight? Do you think it's going to "spin around" as you move around, or is it going to remain stationary, the Image in the 1st post is what I'm referring to.

I hope there's the CoD style melee :D

My roflknife demands blood!!

And people will be running around with a grenade and knifing people at the speed of light? No thanks, I'd rather keep it for assassinations only.

It's Scratched. Bungie word is final. Magazines mix that kind of stuff up all the time.

Well, that's always been a bit of a pet peeve of mine. In Halo, there's no realism. No tracking your rounds across to hit someone. It's point and shoot. I really hope that's an actually-moving reticule, that points where the bullets will go, like in real life.

The one thing I will say Halo should learn from CoD is that.

On that note, I HATE CoD melee. Jump across the map and pull a knife from nowhere, faster than is possible, slice it across in such a way that would not kill, then put it back into its nowhere.

I'd prefer to smash a skull with the back of my gun.
