Hey all! I’m Joey. I’ve been working on my first outfit for a few months now and finally decided it was time to share! I'm going for an Infinite-based Mark V (b) suit with all the fixins. I got the ripped game models from a google drive here.

I got the 3D print files from InstinctCreative3D over on Etsy and NerdforgeDesigns on CGtrader. So far I've printed all the exterior armor out and made it mostly wearable (but barely). I still have a lot of fasteners and a harness system to work out. Right now its mostly held together with velcro, pressure, and a dream.

In the near future I will be adding an LED system to the chest and legs. After that I'll be casting an undersuit from urethane rubber. Its a daunting to-do list but I'm up for the challenge!

I love that GUNGNIR! Great choice in color scheme too!

Great work!! Welcome to the 405th!

could someone help me with this? I'm having a hell of a time trying to get the two halves of the shoe shell to stay together as well as attach to the shoe itself. The two halves have a very small amount of contact so application of most adhesives are a no-go. And I have no idea what to do about all the empty space between the shell and the shoe to make for a snug fit. I also want to make sure none of this is fully permanent as I plan to replace the shoe with a casted undersuit. It's just been a real headache.

On my most recent suit, I epoxied elastic strapping to the inside of the boot armor on each side to make it easy to take them on and off of my shoe and to keep them held snuggly together. I just measured out a good sized piece so it had about and inch or two on each side of the gap in a flat section, then marked it with a sharpie to get proper alignment before making the permanent bond.

You can pick your favorite adhesive for this, but be aware if you plan to use E6000 it does take a bit to fully cure before it is able to resist forces, I've also had it rip away with any overspray it bonded to. I recommend JB Weld Plastic Bonder Epoxy for adhering strapping to most types of 3D prints. It has a pretty good working time, comes in a syringe for easy mixing, and cures within several hours of application. It's also sandable!

Update! I spent the past few days learning how to solder and wire and have ended up with this! Its messy inside the armmor but it works and I happy with how it looks on the outside so whatever. I was going to light up the back, but due to the design of the 3D print it wasn't feasible so I had to settle for the front of the chest and under the arms. I might try and light up the spine if I'm feeling especially spicy. I used 10 orange 5mm dome LEDs, 10 feet of 28 gauge silicon-insulated aluminum wire, and 3 2032 batteries, one in the chest and one in each thigh. I plan on replacing the battery in the chest with a lithium ion battery I'm repurposing from a rechargeable phone charger, but I'm waiting for my wonderful genius girlfriend to finish fabricating a PCB that will step down the voltage as well as provide some other cool features like dimming, bluetooth control, and a charge meter.

Next on the to-do list is casting the undersuit out of Dragonskin. I've already started printing the molds for the chest and will have the whole thing printed in about a week. I could go faster but I want to make sure the prints are of a high enough quality to be watertight and have as few layer lines as possible. Sanding all those nooks and crannies would be a huge pain, and I'm happy to skip most of that by increasing the infill and and halving the layer height, effectively doubling the print time.

I'd recommend either hot glue or some tape when it comes to holding the wires in place. That's what I usually do, and it does a good job at keeping them tidy

can anyone recommend a cowl or neck gaiter? i'm not having much luck finding one that replicates the textured stripes that the Mk5b has while also not making me burn up from the heat

honestly you wont really find one that has the textured stripes. UNLESS you sew it on yourself. though what i would recommend is actually taking a sportswear balaclava and print your Neckseal out of TPU. TPU is quite temperamental and honestly im not the best person to give advice on the stuff currently. DeltaAlphaZulu and SamuelHan have been working with TPU quite a bit recently and are probably better experts on the subject but i use a TPU Neckseal over the balaclava and honestly its not too hot.

The neck seal shapes are simple enough you can make them out of craft eva foam and then skin it any fabric of your choosing. I did that for my mk.7 neck seal

Figured out the shoes! Just needed some 2inch elastic band and some super glue

Im making my first armor set too and it will also be mk v b! I ran into a similar situation as you with the shoes but I ordered some sole repair rubber sheets off amazon and cut them out to match the shoe bottoms. Now the whole piece is protected and has a bottom, worth looking into!
