I don't see MS borrowing the concept as a problem at all (the whole idea of a home console is borrowed to begin with), If I recall correctly, Nintendo invented the control pad. Nobody minds about that. I think they also invented control pads with d-pads and analogue sticks (I could be wrong there though) My point about the Wiimote is, it doesn't work like advertised, take that tennis game, you see people doing fancy backhands on the adds, but when you play it, all you need to do is give the controller a very slight jiggle at the right time, the game decides if you did a backhand or not. It can be fun, yes, but its nowhere near as interactive as we were lead to believe, pre-release.
Zelda? Anyway, every video game is about pressing a button at the right time
You are talking to a man, that has a Super Nintendo with Link to the Past, sitting on my my shelf as an ornament. I love Zelda, and I bought my Wii for that game alone. It was pretty cool but, to be honest, I felt all the wii mote did, was get in the way rather than make it more interactive. Some games make better use of it, Elibits/Elidees for example, but in that game, its only being used as a pointer, and in reality, a mouse would work better.
If companies want a way to make games more interactive, then release a stereoscopic headset, seriously. Imagine standing on the top of a mountain in Oblivion, and throwing a 3d fireball out over the land scape, and watching it fly away from your hand. Or imagine watching that insane intro to COD4, being driven through the town, watching a revolution take place in the streets, and getting a gun put in you face or, doing the train level on Gears of War, zooming along at high speed, while those big dangly tenticle shooty doods try to zap you. Immersion 3d games would kick amazing amounts of arse if they were really in 3d, even without head tracking. There are so many games that would become 900% more interesting if they were stereoscopic. I know there would be a couple of annoying graphics issues to overcome, but all in all, I wouldn't mind them if I could just play these games in 3d. And there is no reason why we cant,.
