Reach Spartan+SRS99AM Rifle Build

Little slower atm... working away at building the foundation for the clay on the masters. Crude but should give structure and reduce the amount of clay I need.

I make shiny. Done the metallic base coat. I hate the basecoating. It always shows spots that might need just a touch more sanding (read: will be weathered to hell and back so nobody notices )

But all in all quite happy so far. Dreading the moldbuilds still, need to break out the clay and then I can start with that.

Oh whoops. Been sleeping on the old updates a little.... armor is painted. Weathering and clearcoat still to go but want to get everything cure for a week to make sure everything is stable.

Started the molds for the undersuit.

For the full undersuit, including molds and 1 suit pull, 1.7k plus miscellaneous stuff like cups, gloves etc

Materials for just the undersuit pull around 300.

And thats just the pure material cost not the 10s of hours that go into the actual process

A short question what does this mold possess with the end rubber product cost to make?

I also did a silicone undersuit. The material cost is high, but oh how it is worth it to have the detail and flexibility. This build looks great btw. Extremely clean job so far.

Started the jacket molds. Plan to have all mold making done by end of next week. The 3 big pieces will be the longest, since I can't just make 2 part jackets for those. Currently looking at 3 to 5 pieces per jacket.

Some thinner spots have been adjusted after taking these pics

Gonna have to scrap the molds. And will be printing the undersuit molds instead

So yeah I just wasted all the money effectively.

Due to the undersuit silicone layer not being completely smooth.... the hard jackets break when trying to remove them from the silicone.

I took everything apart.... the silicone actrually came out well. So I know I did that correct besides the outside texture.....

So now Im gonna have to see what I do .... 100s of hours wasted and about 2.k down the drain.

Started printing the molds. While that does its thing, im gonna focus on weathering this weekend and start the LEDs and inter piece attachments

Since the undersuit ran into a snag and I have to printed the molds decided to get the armor as far as I can in the meantime.

Peeled all the masking fluid off, time to continue adding scuffing and minor scratches and then the wash

Minor frosting to fix
Gloss applied and once dry will matte again.
Decals still to do as we only now decided we wanted them to match the Reach depiction. Undersuit is in the scaling and prefabrication stages, hopefully ready by end of month.
Electronics and some attachments until then
