Section 8 Armor

First things first. Lets get you outta that Noob status. Secondly, welcome to our site. This was the only photo I could find of the section 8 armor, until Sid sends me some. I was very excited to see it, so I scoured flickr until I found one.

To those looking at this armor, it is very very very important to know that flash ruins the look of any armor, especially the undersuit. I'd love a flash-less photo of this, Instead of a surprise passerby photoshoot.

I'm very much looking forward to the game, and I wish the best of luck to you! Would love to make PAX.

Ha... I love sid, different color eyes everytime I see him. Thanks for posting those pictures!

He outdid himself on that gun. 40 LBS sounds like fun. Anyone remember my solid cast ARs knows what that's like.

oh snap, a VIP. Anyways, the armor looks much better with the abdominal plates and such, not to mention that Sid is huge, and that bodysuit is better detailed (no offense ). I seriously can't wait for this game, it looks epic

Very cool pictures, I'll have to ask Sid about this next time I catch him on LIVE, looks fantastic!

As for the rifle, I'd have to say he actually used a Nerf Longshot as a base , I'm like 90% positive he did. Heavily modified of course, looks amazing.

It's cool to see more important people here, we've had some good ranking individuals like yourself register just to drop in a few words, it always gets everyone giddy .

There's a lot more "fabric" showing than I could see in the trailer. Thought there was a lot more armor involved. My intial view of the armor has be changed. Much appreciated for showing us these. Might even come in handy to a few individuals in the future.

Yeah, It's typical Sid using whatever he finds that looks and functions right. Improv as usual.

You can see it's LS base though from a few key points. The top rail, the holes towards the front, the handle, the back... etc etc. It's really cool that he's talented enough to turn a toy into a Pro's prop.

Haha - that's cool. All I know is that the damn thing was heavy!

I was in the armor for maybe 3.5 hours and after holding the rifle for much of that time, it felt like I'd been hitting the curling bar pretty hard. I think he added lead, uranium and the sound of slayer to the original Nerf gun.

I actually just found an unmodified Longshot here in the office - can't believe I hadn't noticed that before!

Longshots have been modified to look like many things.. Even a Lancer.

I would like to add that this armor is very great but I would like to see more of the other factions armor, for some reason I like the color scheme more then the Section 8 armor.

Also I have found some different pics of the other characters armor but I have seen two different kinds of helms for them. I will post the pics but I think that they are of an old character drawing and the other is I believe a trailer screen shot. I hope it's ok that I post these If not I can edit.

The enemy faction (playable in multiplayer) is called the 'Arm of Orion'. They have very similar tech to Section 8, but it seems to have been influenced by an 'outside source'.

I'd love to see some Arm armor created. Who's up for a competition?! Heh...no idea what we'd give out as a prize, but it might be cool...? I can get hold of 3D turnarounds and basically anything else you'd need if anyone's interested?

We also have Captain's armor variants for both S8 and Arm - they're pretty cool. You can see them here:

That footage is from an older game build, but doesn't look too bad (all the visual bells and whistles are being turned on as we speak and the game is looking pretty sweet). I love the gold Imperial Eagle on the shoulder of the S8 captain. Wish we'd had that design in time for E3 and for Sid to build it.
