If you have any outside downloadable content then that is one reason. Maybe you don't have enough memomry. Or maybe you just need to reinstall the game. The last one I could think is if you have a corrupted game file.

EA does have a support department that does not rely on exploiting the community to do its job. Just write them a mail. This might take a bit however, because their first reply is usually totally useless. If you tell them that, they will pass you on to the next level of support, which will be more competent.
