Hey 405th, me again.
Being a huge fan of the Elder Scrolls series, (but it is second to my beloved Halo) I've decided to attempt Dragonscale Gauntlets. I might even go for the whole set depending on feedback.

Here is the in-game model for those unfamiliar:

And my pep work (I'm doing just the right hand for now.)

After hardening, I had the idea for detailing. You'll notice that the texture on the plates is a kind of "peeling layers" of Dragon scales. So I did this, using the thin foam sheeting they sell for lining toolboxes and whatnot:

One coat of rondo:

I think it makes the detailing really come alive:

Primed:

Now I had to use an off-white to approximate "bone", but once its is blackwashed it will look much more authentic.

Thumbtacks provided the perfect detailing for the "rivets".

And that is all for now. Soon, the metal color coat and the blackwashing.

Stay tuned!

Color coat complete!

Now I know it looks almost flat black, but I did the edges in graphite metallic grey.
I did the rivets as a lighter silver, I think it helps them pop a little more.
All that's left is the black(or brown, in this case)washing, clear coat, and adding the belts to hold it onto my forearm.

This is a great build! Are you planning on doing the rest of the armor or just staying with the gaunts?

I'll see how the gauntlets look finished and go from there. If I do decide to do the whole suit, I wont start until I finish my MJOLNIR.

Also, finished the right gauntlet. I still have to make decent undergloves.

EDIT: My wife (who has good eye for color) suggested I darken the gauntlets a little. And so...

I would say that your wife has a great eye for color! Those look Legen...wait for it...dary!

Very nice work! I like them! It is very hard to make this armor. I am also working on them as well.

Wow! That's awesome work titan. How did you achieve the scale detailing? The striations are a nice touch.

I used an epoxy clay that is like Bondo. I used it to sculpt the armor, then I airbrushed it. You can look at the Dragonscale Helm that I made on Deviantart and you will see that I used the same technique. I am almost finished with the Dragonscale Chestpiece. Hopefully this weekend. I will have some pictures of that piece very soon.

Thank you,
