Haha yeah well Idk what to do yet on my new wall mount but thanks for the smexy word to describe but how about "epic smexy" ;)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well I did get around to painting my chest ;)

Though I can't finish my forearms since my sister stole my glue gun. But I'll get it up tomorrow when I glue on the floating details.

I used a different gray from what I used on my helmet. Though there isn't much a of difference except up close and the glossy effect of my helmet.

NOW, I need some of your guy's input on to how to put on this chest. I don't know if I wanna use straps and cut in clean in half like Poopers. So give me any ideas you guys got :D
BOLD # 1: Yeah... "epic smexy" definately works too :D

BOLD # 2: And a fine job you did on it, too! The black accents really "pop" on it, imho. Personally, I can't tell a difference between the greys you used. Are you planning on adding further accents on it (ie. Mk VI stencil and strip on the thigh)? :unsure

Thanks Mac ;)

@Spartan II

Haha thanks Spartan II

And yes I plan on adding the floating details on the back.

Whenever I get my sheet of rubber, I will post up picks of it with all the smexy details :D

Now I just gotta finish up my forearms and shins.

Start up on the cod and start bondoing the boot things.

Once I'm done with recon, I'm gonna try to focus on my armor. Recon Helmet got me distrcted from what I need to get done. lol

Looking good there soulless! Damn, I miss out on all this and can't see it unless I'm at work... Wah!

But enough of my whining, and seriously, this suit is coming together good. I'm loving the paint job and can't what to see weathering details! Hurry and get those foam pieces now!

Question for ya, were did you get those LED covers that's on your helmet?

As for the putting on the torso, there's a method I seen here on the forums where this guy cuts a piece of the side (only one side) off the torso (where your ribs would be) just puts in on like it's football shoulder pads, and then attaches the side piece back in. I'll try to find that thread for ya.

@MacAttack

Haha I see. Right now I try not to get perms from distracting me.

I gotta get this suit done at least a month before Halloween.

@Pooper

Haha I would say to get a job so you can get internet but you do have a job. :p

For those LED Covers, I got them at FRY'S Electronics It's a 10mm Jumbo White LED from Linrose

That thing needed a lot of voltage to be bright so I had to replace the LED itself to get something with less voltage but kept the housing it came with ;) LED Link

The damn thing is pretty much $5 a piece. So I think you may be able to find a 10mm housing for much less at Radioshack.

That's if you use 10mm LED's on your bucket.

I remembered seeing that too. Where just only one side is cut and I can slide in :D

Haha I could just bs it and figure it out.

Ive got some from my helmet that were way cheaper housings, they are plastic for like a display panel and i got like 20 of them for $5 off of ebay. I still got some.

You may want to let Pooper know.

But what size is it for the LED?

Thanks soulless! and Mac, thanks for posting that! I may look at ebay for some... don't want to have to take away stuff that you bought ya know?

@Pooper

Not when we got a crap load ;)

EDIT:

Didn't get a lot done today since I had to take my car in to get a smog check. The paper says it's ancient but damn this car pwns all :D

Photo0118.jpg

I started by bondoing my front boot thingy. I tried to aim for the round shape from the 12" Chief and it looks like I got it. I really didn't like the boxy and angular shape.

Then since I had change my whole paint scheme of the suit, I sanded down most of the paint on my ab plate. Now I gotta figure out how I am gonna put it on.

Photo0122.jpg

I resined my crotch plate. And I must say that it's a bitch to resin it. I have to be very careful so it won't warp like last time.

I thought I figure that I do my forearm floating details so I had it all masked out and ready for bondo. I guess my own bondo work doesn't like me since the whole thing just came off. I'll try it again since I sanded off the pain on the forearm. I think that's the problem but I knew for a fact that It adhered to paint but oh well.

Hey, have fun Soulless. My wife and I are going on a date tomorrow too, so my armor sculpting plans will have to wait for the weekend. Goin' salsa dancing!

BOLD # 1: That "front boot thingy", as you so eloquently put it, is actually known as a "toe cap", lol. Looking real good, though. I agree with the boxy and angular shape of it. I don't like it much either, so I'll be doing the same as you.

BOLD # 2: For the ab plate, I take it you're applying the new grey paint to it, to match what you used for the chest piece? As for how to attach it, I've heard some members epoxying a hinge of some sort in place, to allow it to move a little with your body as you move and bend.

BOLD # 3: Personally, I think you did a fine job with those scratch-built support struts in the top of it. Should greatly reduce the risk of any warping, imho. Does the COD piece model come with support struts? I haven't gotten to that point with my build, so I wouldn't know. If it does, though, maybe you could insert those as well to further reinforce it during the resining/fiberglassing process. Just an idea, anyway.

BOLD # 4: Whaa--? :eek Soulless has a DATE? Well, good on you, buddy! Hope you have a good time. Me and the gf are still doing much of the same, as we're only a little four months into the relationship. We tend to keep things very low-key, lol :D

*Haha It doesn't matter what I call it. I have pics of the front boot thingy :p

So right now, the TOE CAP is ready for priming and painting.

*Epoxy and hinge system? I was thinking more like drilling holes and zip ties :D

*The cod piece does come with support struts but they suck as far as cardstock can go.

So I used it as a template for cutting out cardboard and all the cardboard you see, is where the cardstock struts go.

So not much more reinforcement I can do.

*Haha I see well lucky for me,, SHE WON"T GET UP

$%^&$#&%$^$#&@@#$

Oh well I'll be working on my cod ;)

BOLD # 1: GASP! It doesn't matter? It doesn't MATTER? Don't cross me, sir. Though I may not be a Moderator here, I do have something called my good ol' trusty Trout of Torment (a remnant of my moderating days on another HALO-related forum). It's not quite a Banhammer, but it still hurts. Oooh... sharp, oily fish scales of death *snicker snicker* :)

BOLD # 2: I'm pretty sure I saw at least one member here try that on their armour. Don't ask me who, though. I have no clue :pDrilling holes and using zip ties could work too. Not as clean or elegant, lol, but it still works.

BOLD # 3: Well, date or not, have fun with the new crotch job :lol

BIGGER BOLD #1: I AM THE ARMORER HERE AND I CALL WHAT I WANT TO CALL IT :D

BIGGER BADDDER BOLD #2: Lol well I think I would go with some zip ties since it will provide some flexibility on movement.

BIGGER BADDER BETTER BOLD #3: Haha it got pushed back to 4 pm -.-

Well I get a good close up of it just for you :D

EDIT:

Since today its trash day over where I live, I am not sure whether i should throw my old chest away. Though I did make a video of it's crappiness and I threw it on the floor. So Let me know if you guys want a couple vids of it being torture, thrown, lit on fire, etc :p

@Mac

@Tandhem

It depends how thick the bondo is but I usually go from 80 to120 to 220 to 300 :D

120 grit to roughly shape it

220 to smooth it

300 to have it smooth enough for paint :D
