Spartan-891 project progress

Hey all! im a new starter. ive spent the past few days scowering the forums to see what i can find for my deemed: Spartan-891, project. ill be posting updates on progress here and if anyone can give any suggestions or tips i would greatly LOVE the input and support.

so here i go! got my idea all set up! im doing the halo reach spartan III armor, with variants:

helmet: OPERATOR UA/HUL
left shoulder: COMMANDO
right shoulder: UA/BASE SECURITY
chest: COLLAR/BREACHER
wrist: actually gonna make a custom one for my iphone
utility: UA/NxRA
visor color: gold
knee guards: GRENADIER

its gonna be alot of work and im hoping to have it all done for akon and pax next year

lol i was hoping to keep the armor sortof light, so i was gonna try craft foam or paper based clay. i used the clay for Ulquiorra's head piece and it was SUUUUUPER light. but if i cant do that, i would want something that doesnt shatter if i bump into a wall...

You might check into the EVA foam that a lot of people are using. If you coat it in Plasti Dip before you paint, it holds up really well I hear. Just a suggestion.

YAY!! FIRST UPDATE!!
ok so since im waiting for the operator helmet to be made i decided to make a back up helmet just in case... i used the armor scaling method by xtreme tactics 101 and it worked PERFECTLY!! go here!!! for a really good scaling!! i had to open up the neck a bit but it ended up fitting nice and snug

this is my first time using pepakura and i did this in under 16 hours (not straight... like spread in 2 days)

my next pieces are the default chest,(ill add collar/breacher later) and the right bicep and forearm. starting on it wednesday! in the mean time let me know what y'all think of my RECONZZZ!!!

ok so i scaled some stuff wrong on my chest, i had a brain fart while folding valley and mountain the wrong way on the bicep and the forearm printed without fold distinguishs on it... lol oh well. ill print them out right tomorrow and try again

since the collar breacher chest is actually an attachment all i had to do was make a default noble 6 chest and then add the collar/breacher attachment on it. here is the third chest i had to make bc the first two were just suck...

so yea! got the two hardest pieces done!! so look forward to more stuff coming soon bc im out of college for the next month!! XD

Nice looking stuff! The recon's really cool. I'm planning on making a recon helmet for my build. It's funny because my group of friends is making a Spartan squad and I'm the tech guy, so I was going to do operator but then decided on recon. Now I'm designing some operator attachments to fit onto a recon helmet. But anyways, looks like clean work. Keep it up and you'll have a suit!

You're off to a great start. Looking forward to seeing more from you. If you're looking to use the foam there is a chest pattern for the L3X now, I'm not sure if he did the jorg add on yet but just wanted to pass that on.

hello all!

ive been busy these last few months with school and having a baby boy! now ive got more free time and for the past few months ive been working on armor and ive got mostly everything from the waist up peped and ready to be resined.

ive also finished my first thigh piece

ill have pics of the cod later on. now all i have left to do is the left thigh, knees, shins, and boot piece.

getting exciting now!
