For the COG Tags, Usually (the ones I've made/seen) on the opposite side of "the property of COG" There is Usually your Name,DOB,and Blood Type, similar to normal Dog tags.

Belakor, I wish I had half the awesomeness and abilities you do. Not just in sculpting, but in digital space too. I thought I saw somewhere that you use SolidWorks for modeling, is this correct? Or do you use (an)other program(s)?

Thanks :) I'm just a really fast learner and naturally talented with the artsy kind of stuff... possibly because I'm left handed, or so I'm told. I also like to work alone so it helps to be able to do everything you possibly can :D

I do use Solidworks, it's my primary 3D app at the moment. I also use Cinema4D, Modo, and Zbrush depending on what I'm doing. I'm learning Rhino right now too, mostly to do the things that Solidworks doesn't want to do.

I've briefly played with MAya and 3DSMax but don't like them so I've never gone any further.

That's what I was thinking of but could never find any photos that showed the other side, I'll have to have a play and see how it looks. Thanks :)

I probably could but it'd be a lot of work (using time I don't really have sadly) and in the end it wouldn't really be much different to the version that's up on that site other than it being a PDO.

While I'm in here, I'll put up the early render of my ODST logo from the live action trailer.

Still needs quite a bit of work but it's on the right track.

Thanks :) Hopefully I'll have some more progress on the Big Daddy to report sometime soon :D

The Westar hasn't gotten any further since those renders above, just haven't had the time and Star Wars stuff bores me (right now, my interest in that comes and goes ;) ). It's not a model that you'd be able to pep in any case, it's far too complicated and is made up of too many separate pieces. I think it would actually be easier to build the whole thing 3D model from scratch with pep in mind, not something I could do right now though :unsure

Since this topic is back up...

Canopy of the Halo 3: ODST concept drop pod I've been tinkering with the past day or two, there's more of it done but I haven't rendered it yet:

Also tinkering with the BSG seal:

3910790395_d1e885dc05.jpg

and a few rings I did while learning how to work with Rhino:

Some more interesting models to come in my Halo weapons topic... once I can get a post together.

Some new District 9 stuff I did last week for Armageddon, based on the concept art released by Weta not long before I started:

4053229859_a30b035f1f_m.jpg 4053973318_3bdc2330ae_m.jpg

I've got two more D9 weapons I've been working on but I want to get them looking a little nicer before I post anything.

Pretty random, especially for this place, but this is another project I've been working on recently:

4030543253_8a3f7bffe0_m.jpg 4031298242_750545fb6e_m.jpg

4031294594_f7dfbee308_m.jpg

Calling it "The Bionic Potato Project" and it'll be a whole lot of replacement and new parts for Mr. Potato head :D You can find the files up on Thingiverse if you've got the equipment to use them, it was picked for thing of the week last week which was pretty cool :)

Will do! Slowly getting back to unfolding (and now smoothing) stuff so there's bound to be more soon :)

Belakor, your crazy skills are making me wish I was in art school right now. **worships**

Thanks Queen :D Art school probably wouldn't have been a bad idea, had I actually taken some classes or something I'd probably be doing even more insane stuff ;)

Some new stuff that some may have seen in other places.

My newest projects, a full size 343 Guilty Spark prop and a full size (half-ish size of 343) version of the Halo Waypoint Monitor prop that you get on Xbox Live:

4064847407_94df0c679d_m.jpg 4064845017_56b8f65431_m.jpg

4064845985_274804522c_m.jpg

I can release the pep files for both the full and half size ones if people want them, though I'd hold off on that, at least until I've had a chance to test some of the build to make sure it'll actually work. The ones pictured above are the Waypoint one I think.

Also they are fairly large builds, the small Monitor is 91 parts and the large one is 147 parts... most of the parts are pretty big too.

A size comparison:

4067299692_930d65749b_m.jpg 4067300034_b2fc71fdb5_m.jpg

That's the pieces surrounding the eye of the Monitor, the outer one is the full size version and the inner one is an approximately half size version that I'm converting to be the Halo Waypoint Monitor.

And here's all the parts cut and partially glued together, just waiting to be glued to thicker card and cut out again:

4071059744_d50a1eab32_m.jpg

I don't print on actual cardstock anymore, what I do (and how I started with pep) is to print it on regular paper and then glue that to large sheets of thicker card.

Already planning the electronics setup for both Monitors, I'll probably use RGB LED's to light the full size one, which is going to be 343, and just blue ones for the Waypoint Monitor.

I want to do sounds for 343 as well, much like the R2's with a remotely triggered mp3 player or similar playing different audio files… speaking of which, if anyone has or knows of any audio files of Guilty Spark I'd really appreciate any help :)

Closest I could find was on this page. A ways down there is audio for monitors, but no 343. :\

Edit: Got his "death scream". Looks like you need to register to download it, though...

Thanks for those Achille! I grabbed all those H2 ones and that death scream :D I don't know why I didn't think of it earlier but I did a search on HBO and found this too:

http://nikon.bungie.org/misc/h3dialogue.html?date=20090916

Some pretty funny ones in there that would be fun at a Con ;) "Take a picture - it lasts longer." :lol

Went out and bought some card yesterday and spent most of the afternoon cutting, folding, and glueing:

4075792580_c6cd1ba6f1_m.jpg 4075796170_39521b208b_m.jpg

4075797906_8f91783499_m.jpg

Crap quality is because my real camera is out of juice. There is some warping as you can see but I'll be able to fix that easily with some supports and such.

I think it turned out a little bigger than the Waypoint Monitor should be but it should work and I kind of like the size :)

I just need to reshape a few areas and then the basic shape is done, it's raining today but when it warms up I might resin it and start to harden it up a little... not sure how I'm going to harden it exactly but I'll figure it out. Now to find a sphere that's the right size for the core.

... now just imagine 343, he's going to be twice that size :eek

As mention in my ODST thread, I've been slowly working on Yoko's sniper rifle from the anime series Gurren Lagann. Not building it for any specific reason other than I think it's a cool design and I've just started watching the show :) I think it's based more on the movie version but I'm not sure, most of the references I've been using are of the Kotobukiya Yoko statue/figure.

For reference, this is the rifle:

yokorifle.jpg

I'm planning on doing it a little like BlindSquirrel's one, using mostly PVC, styrene and probably wood.

So far I've just been working on the 3D model to use for reference/measurements:

4126601829_6a4c502a20_m.jpg 4127396062_d272c64988_m.jpg

4127396362_475d707cb6_m.jpg

All of the measurements so far are just rough estimates, once I get the grip modeled I'll be able to correct proportions and such.

Next week I'll pick up some PVC and start building it :D I'm also planning on doing the assault rifle type version, her pistol and some other things like the bracelets and skull hair clip thing.

Also on the digital workbench:

4121226156_8ae06cea1e_m.jpg

Started working on a solid model of the District 9 dropship which I'll probably use to build a scale model… what scale I do it in is still up in the air

This is an old render but I just uploaded it the other day to show someone

4115634963_5d4cc88361_m.jpg

Finally, I started this topic the other day for all my pepakura stuff, just in case anyone is looking for anything :)

Belakor,

I was going through your Photostream site and I have a few questions for you. Did you ever release your ODST grenade file ( http://www.flickr.com/photos/belakor/3910853514/ ), incendiary grenade, battle rifle, and SOCOM 30 ( http://www.flickr.com/photos/belakor/4043804886/ ) files. I don't remember seeing them. I'd love to get them so I can build them.

It's interesting to have a base SOCOM pistol to which we can add elements such as the ODST silencer or the Halo 3 laser targeting system.

None of those have been released as yet. The ODST grenade was on hold until I could get the game and correct any error but I've been lazy and haven't gone back to finish that :pSame with the incendiary grenade, I really just need to find the time and motivation to get back to them and finish them off...

The SOCOM and BR probably wont be released, at least not in their high detail forms, there's just too much work in them to give them away as is. I may look at doing some lower detail versions though and maybe sliced ones.

Since I'm posting in here:

4136649124_31dea6a052_m.jpg

Haven't been able to do nice renders yet but I did get one reasonable one done. The second and third pics are just of the model in Hypershot without rendering. I hadn't noticed until after I had done that first render that the little screen thingy was actually sunk back into the body so I've fixed that. I'm also unsure of the two button like parts just below that, I need to take a good look at it in game and see if they're buttons or recessed areas... unless someone knows already?

One of these days I'll do the wall mounted part for it as well :)

Is there another way that would encourage you to release these models? Say to those people who would encourage you to release them?
