Thought I would post up some of the other work I've done this past year in one thread, 'cause I don't really need separate threads cluttering up the place.

In no particular order:

Autobot and Decepticon badges... I hated the movies but the logos are still cool with me ;)

3666334876_54227a5f96_m.jpg 3665011430_7cf9491f5f_m.jpg

G.I.Joe bages... same story with the Transformers stuff, I don't have high hopes for the movie but it's still cool

3568912135_aafe04dfdf_m.jpg 3565525331_5674212f5f_m.jpg

Watchmen Wrath of God badge/patch (unfinished)

3565078318_1626acca4a_m.jpg

The new Trek badges:

3544871200_8231d1feaa_m.jpg

Couple of different Resident Evil T-Virus vials

3557864189_cb6922913b_m.jpg 3612675056_13b9a2f993_m.jpg

Steamball from the movie Steamboy:

3667669064_9351f69090_m.jpg 3669725114_8fb9e132b7_m.jpg

40K Bolter

3583112917_cc965635f2_o.png

Jango Fett Westar 34 (unfinished)

3611860331_80ee3cb535_o.png 3612674640_5835999d22_o.png

These I'm going to have machined in aluminium at some stage.

Some of my District 9 stuff:

3718859820_74b1524ef9.jpg

this is designed to be a pepper popper target, you know those falling targets?

3719261827_50b82e7c14_m.jpg

The stamping on the back of the target

These are a couple of signs based on promo material

3715688753_6fc610d377_m.jpg 3726544244_14b82509ed_m.jpg

The second uses the alien language.

I think this would make a really cool paperweight or something:

3715381726_f2270c15d7_m.jpg

There's supposed to be a human on the other side.

My 1:1 animated Hellboy sculpt:

3651666371_51175f98f4_m.jpg 3600012950_db08990b06_m.jpg

He used to have bigger shoulders like in the second pic but they were removed because he was just too big.

I actually took it down with me to meet Guillermo del Toro at the Weta Cave a while back (for his book "The Strain"), went over quite well! Mr. del Toro thought he was really cool, as did a few friends from Weta :D ... I just wish I had been there when Mike Mignola was in town.

I guess to finish this all off I'll post a current project:

3708496751_f86246b781_m.jpg 3706591514_b9ac97080c_m.jpg

3708514567_7d143192d6_m.jpg 3706593134_bb6b3fc54c_m.jpg

My HEV suit, hoping to finish it by April next year. Thanks to Nugget for the model, I grabbed it ages ago when it was first released and only just got around to unfolding it the other day :eek

As I said a while ago on Twitter:

"Once again I am either a scaling genius or incredibly lucky, everything was perfectly scaled first time... I'd say it's the latter ;) "

Haven't been able to do any more on the suit because of the weather, I'm hoping it warms up soon so I can get back to fiberglassing.

Damn impressive work Belakor. I've seen some of that in the Flickr account in your sig. I really love the District 9 Targets... I'd love to have one of these in my office with a nerf gun!

Keep up the great work, and good to see you at the 405th again!

Awesome work. That really makes me want to put together a district 9 target prop or one of those little statues, because it would make an awesome paperweight. :)

Good Lord, that is awesome! What I wouldn't do for 1/4 of that talent!

Thank you :) Most of my skills have been born out of necessity, it's pretty helpful to be able to do anything that is needed if you're wanting to get in to the film industry out here ;) That and I don't like asking others for help so I end up doing things I never had any interest in... like 3D work :)

Really wish I had access to a laser cutter right now, I really need an excuse to buy nerf guns :p

Ha! A nerf gun, I never thought of that but I think it'd be awesome!

A 1:1 statue would be pretty cool in my front yard, wonder if I could get away with that ;) Failing that I think a paperweight will have to do.

Hopefully, once the movie is out, we'll start seeing some D9 prop and costume builds :D There's going to be some cool stuff to do, based on what they've put out in the trailers.

Forgot to post this the first time, but here's the start of a Halo 2 ODST helmet.

Pepped it using a heavier than normal card, with no flaps and maybe five folds total:

3398183198_7f82253821_m.jpg

Filled it with expanding foam (a little too much ;) ):

3655311559_32a82872bc_m.jpg 3655315269_8cca6c8cf4_m.jpg

and pulled all the card off, now ready for hardcoat and detailing:

3658784592_73a26c86c0_m.jpg 3657988507_82ae153f7e_m.jpg

I finished this off really quickly before a Con back in April:

3391615716_5ab1e151e5_m.jpg 3391619474_39d6644b9a_m.jpg

And some random stuff.

This is quite new, a simple concept (still in progress) for a custom toy, like the vinyl toys you'd get from Kidrobot etc.

3728877164_61281dcb8e_m.jpg 3728905286_f46f3327a9_m.jpg

Don't ask me what it is 'cause I've got no idea :p

Doing it mainly to test the printing abilities of my Makerbot... which I ordered the other day and will ship early next month :D

Couple of lightsabers in progress:

3492652263_cf16db798d_m.jpg 3493533966_c3d71f36b7_m.jpg

Spirit of Fire patch, I used this to help build the badge that I added to my armour:

3333971081_a0136c6f26_m.jpg

I need to go back and do this properly...

This one, the Fallout 3 terminal, I've had to put on hold since I need the computer inside for the aforementioned Makerbot.

3243382406_81e2379b02_m.jpg

Once I free up some cash I'm still planning on picking up a bunch of styrene and building the body again and maybe look for another small computer to use (or free up some desk space so I can use it with the Makerbot)

I started a Big Daddy a while back, it's been sitting in the garage for months :rolleyes

3166828669_7ffe3ef72b_m.jpg 3167680368_d488b626e3_m.jpg

Once it warms up again I'll get it fiberglassed.

And I think that's pretty much every major project I've worked on in the past 10 months.

I will be watching the big daddy with interest....

I'll try and have some progress on that in the next few months. I really want to finish it so I can wear it, it's going to be my most uncomfortable costume yet but I think it'll be worth it :D

You know you're creepin' me out a little, I was seriously just getting a post ready for Twitter :p*cue Twilight Zone music* :lol Probably have something up tomorrow, just want to get this sculpt looking a little nicer. I've gotten some other ideas for new stuff while working on this particular piece as well.

I whipped this up for someone earlier, seemed like a bit of a waste to have it up on Flickr and not use it ;)

If there's interest I can throw it in it's own topic but for now a mini tutorial for securing a visor with Chicago Screws*

I haven't used Chicago screws on any of my helmets yet (they've been hard to find) so this is all based on what I've seen and can come up with in my head.

3779407729_c65015674c.jpg

With the screws you drill a shallow hole the same diameter as the female (socket) side of the screw and glue that into the hole. That should let the visor sit flush with the helmet and not leave any gaps, you'd probably need to add a washer or two on the other side of the visor because I think the thickness of the visor isn't the same as the depth of the screw.

Then you drill a couple of holes the same side as the diameter of the female screw in the visor and secure it with the male side of the Chicago screw, fitting the washers as needed.

For the placement of screws I would have two screws on either side of the helmet (near the temples) and possibly one in the center below the visor and one above to stop any movement (thanks to Confucious T for bringing that point up)

Video link showing how it all goes together.

*Note: The ideas aren't mine, people have been doing this for ages, I've just added some visuals.

Here are a few links I found a while back with some helpful info:

Link 1

Link 2

Link 3

Nothing fancy, I'm not a tutor and I don't play one on TV, but maybe it'll help someone.

You can also use tee-nuts and machine screws rather than Chicago screws. I've had better luck finding them, and they're available in many more size configurations. Tee-nuts also have a significantly larger gluing surface, which helped out a lot on fitting my visors.

I'll have to try those out, thanks! Should be much easier to find them out here... I'm pretty sure I've got some on a TV cabinet, I probably shouldn't cannibalize those though ;)

Some more new stuff:

Some COG tags:

Any ideas for the opposite side?

A stun baton from Fallout 3

A few different renders of a prop from the movie 'The Box'

Not sure about the movie but as soon as I saw the mutton I knew I had to make it :D

Heading out to see District 9 in a couple of days so I'm pretty sure there'll be some more props from that being built in my copy of Solidworks once I get home ;)

Posting up some new models before I get swamped with real work this week...

MGS4 Solid Eye, still in progress:

3851993196_bc442a1eff.jpg

It's actually three parts right now, plan on using the 3D model to make a real version... to go along with the other MGS props and costume pieces I'm going to be doing soon :)

First Reaction Battalion badge from District 9, did this before the movie was out so I need to go back and fix a few places:

3864335434_b1dafdb91e.jpg

Some Halo stuff, New Mombassa PD badge and a skull based on the one on the side of the ODST truck (A good new avatar I think ;)):

3841183195_4427da6a4c.jpg

3869434745_2e8a6306ba.jpg

3869460229_c33c6dd00e.jpg

That last photo is the model cut up in Skeinforge, ready for 3D printing.

Start of my animated Hellboy Samaritan:

3842046062_7e83701869.jpg

It'll go with the animated Hellboy bust.

Not prop related at all but a car dock for an iPhone that I'm working on:

3821997874_2065559310.jpg

STL's of this will be up on the Thingiverse when I'm done, should anyone want one and have access to a 3D printer :)

Wow nice work Belakor but I gotta ask you this. Is it possible to have that Autobot logo Pep possible?

I suppose... :)

Autobot:

3878380743_0989bf6a73.jpg

Scaled to 100mm (10cm) high

A4 Letter

A4 Pepakura 2 format Letter Pepakura 2 format

I can't guarantee the buildability of it but it looks alright. If anyone wants to do a better unfold then by all means, add your name to the credits too.

Decepticon:

3878381697_fcd5da0b91.jpg

Also scaled to 100mm

A4 Letter

A4 Pepakura 2 format Letter Pepakura 2 format

I think this one would be a whole lot harder to build.

No worries :)

Here's this, if anyone is crazy enough to try and build it...

Cobra:

Scaled to 150mm high

(The G.I. Joe one wouldn't work, even if it was finished)

I think that's about all the pep files I can make from 3D models I have... the one's I'm not using for my portfolio that is.

Edit: Added Pep2 versions of everything.

Just finished your Autobot Logo and I'd say it's awesome and pep friendly (with patience). It's at 200 mm btw and for the backside of the logo, it tempts me to make a mold outta it or fill it in. Idk what will work but I love this pep though :D

Idk if I can manage to do a franken pep and combine the Decepticon and Autobot Logo to make an awesome wall mount ;)

Like so

Cool, let me know how you get on :)

Had some warm sunny days the past couple of days so I hardcoated the Halo 2 ODST helmet:

3882236451_d477406c1d.jpg

Second coat:

3882988919_7435b248c1.jpg

3882990349_a0f831148a.jpg

I'm just using a regular polyester resin with a little bondo (no hardener) mixed in to thicken it up a bit, it's not perfect (and the foam sucks) but it's a better place to start than regular foam.

Had a heap of resin left over from the ODST so I made a start on the Big Daddy again, got most of the right side fiberglassed but now I'm out of cloth... I'll get some more in a couple of weeks (as well as sandpaper and bondo)

3882992607_2bdd2753af.jpg

Found this while I was looking for something the other day, did it one day when I was sick ages ago.

1:1 Halo 3 (I think) AR schematic:

3882209025_74a25b5361.jpg

First real drafting I've done since school... which was a long time ago :eek . It's seen better days, I think I'll clean it up and digitize it.

Belakor, I wish I had half the awesomeness and abilities you do. Not just in sculpting, but in digital space too. I thought I saw somewhere that you use SolidWorks for modeling, is this correct? Or do you use (an)other program(s)?
