Looks great man. Keep it up and you'll have an awesome suit in no time :)

Thanks mate. I hope its awesome too!

Secondly, apologies for the lack of updates been busy playing halo 4

Anyway, suit update! The torso is 99% done. Just need to add some more detail work to the front and back then it can be put aside for finishing once everything is ready.

and here is me wearing it with the biceps and forearms. Cant put the shoulder attachments on until i have painted them seprately

looking good buddy! kinda liking the multi colour rainbow foam :)

lol yeah, i realized that it was very difficult to get good clean cuts/detail on tthe shoulders and fore arms using the 1/2 inch think foam i have. So to make sure things were at a good starting point when doing the prep for painting, i used a thinner 1.5mm foam sheet and stuck it ontop of the base i had created which also allowed me to hide a lot of the joints i didnt want to be visible. As time has gone by, my cutting and gluing has improved to point where, for the bigger pieces/parts at least, i dont need to do it anymore.

Some nice work there dude. Liking what I am seeing, looking forward to more :)

Tom.

Cheers Tom. Your tutorials and seeing roxy work her magic on her armour on youtube were a great help! The tip about using a glue gun with a metal nozzle was gold!

Massive Update. Sorry i havent been around for a while now, i have been really busy and between work, gym, professional development and this, i have little to no time whatsoever.

Progress update, all base parts done except helmet. That will be built over the next few weeks.

I then plan to add the detail pieces like the pounches etc and build a DMR and a M6D and then work on fine details using foamies (as i have done with the forearms and biceps)

Once they are done then i will make rough shapes of my body parts using rubbish paper and cardboard etc and then place them where i would want my arms/legs to be and fill the gaps with expanding foam to ensure a good fit etc

enjoy

Just tried everything on. Very happy with the scaling :) (will put the shoulder stuff on after its been painted :)

For mounting, i was thinking of using fishing line with velco on the ends to ensure its barely visible. Let me know what you guys think of the scaling :)

Thanks to everyone who has been busy peping and for the tutorials and the mistakes. The knowledge is brilliant!

I think the strapping idea sounds good but I'd recommend using buckles like you'd find on a back pack. I used nylon strap for my strapping and as long as your undersuit is black its hardly noticeable or you could rig it so it goes under the undersuit and comes out under the armour pieces.

Overall a good looking suit. My only niggle is I think the hips look a little big. Could be just me, but that's my thought on it.

Looks great, except the cod and the thighs look WAY to big, and the shins look a little big. But otherwise great build!

i have yet to do the final fitting :) i also thought the COD was a bit too big but thats an easy fix which can be sorted out quickly. I thought the thighs and shins were just right. They are big for my legs but i intend to fill them (plus shoulders and chest) with expanding insulation foam to get a snug fit and give them real thickness so it feels like armour :D Relative to the chest and boots etc i am pretty happy with the size of the thighs and shins to be honest. Just got to do the detailing now :D Im having a couple of weeks off as i have to take care of some other stuff :D

Great looking foam work. :D
Might need to tone down the mid section under armor (ab belt area) a bit. I know I need to use a thinner foamie in that area my self to keep scale right. All those layers of foam in that area just push it out a bit to much.

All in All, I'm really liking how this build is moving along and look forward to see how it all comes together. :cool

Thanks dude., i agree with what you say for the COD piece. I just need to make the accessories now (pouches, rifle and machine gun) before i start detailing so things like that will be sorted out in that phase :)

Meanwhile, i just finished the helmet base. Really happy with the scale any symmetry. Let me know what you guys think!

I used two different types of foam, the greem is 11mm thick to provide a frame and ridigity and the orange is 7mm thick to provide flexability and easy of cutting.

Not bad at all mate. Looks great, the scale is pretty spot on I think.
Are you swapping out the foam visor for a proper one eventually?

Thanks dude

yes of course, i just need to think of the best way of going about it really, im hopeing i can get a hold a 0.5mm/1mm thick plastic sheet which i can play around with. Im not too keen on using the motor cycle visors because cutting one up will not be easy.

That's right. Just get some acrylic sheet. A4 size is fine, if you look through my thread there's an explanation of how to make one in there somewhere. Just gonna need to look :)

I have no idea how anyone makes foam helmets, cause they seem really difficult, but you pulled this one off excellently. There's no was this build can end up in any way but great.

Sweet, i have just looked at ebay and seen some 1mm arcylic sheets and 80% Mirror Gold window tint which will be perfect to get the visor how i want it to be :D Ill have a look at your thred too and get some ideas along with browsing the forum :D

lol i felt exactly the same way before i started, i thought to myself that leave the helemt till last and gave it a crack this weekend and managed to finish it in a day and a half. Cant believe it, more luck than anything else. Im just amazed it came out looking even! lol

Nice one! I used 3mm I think it was for my visor and silver tint film. Tbh I'd rather have used a thinner acrylic. Sure you'll do just fine. Seeing as your uk based drop me a pm and I'd be happy to exchange details to Skype, FaceTime or phone chat and talk you through it before making the leap!!

Thanks dude, your thread was more than helpful. I had a go today making the initial visor. (see below) i am satisfied but not entirely happy. 1mm arcylic was too thick i think. I have ordered some 0.5mm which should be perfect. I can cut that with a scissor to get the exact shape and add the second lens on top with the gold film. I just couldnt help myself from having a go today.

Ill pm you my Skype in a moment and we can arrange a chat at some point and ill get some tips from you to aid in taking this fromm satisfactory to Ace!.
