Another update, I'm making solid progress on my armour. After finishing the torso I started on the bottom half of the spartan. The first piece I started on was the thighs, I figured I might have have to play with the scaling a bit seeing as I've got some tree trunk legs, but thankfully it was an "off the rack" kinda situation.

I'm pretty stoked with how they turned out! They're the perfect length and fit my meaty legs pretty good.

Since the gloves and knees are so small I didn't really want to make a post for each so here is a little post for both. Finished the knees last night and I think they look pretty nifty!

Updates are coming in fast and furious but that's just how fast I've been crafting! I could probably be more responsible but instead I decided to make the belt in between my finals. I may be sleep deprived but not I've got a kick butt space diaper! Had to size it up a bit because I am a wide boi but she fits perfectly.

Today Schankerz popped by my place to see my progress so of course I had to do a full test fit of all my pieces!

I'm definitely on track for Montreal in July!

Well here I am again posting so frequently with more updates. Over the last two days I was able to build one shin per day.

I was kinda dreading getting to these because they looked pretty complicated, but once I set myself to it I was able to get a good looking couple of pieces!

Well here I am again, the speed at which I am consuming foam is not slowing down! Just finished making my two boots. As you can see I left each boot in two pieces so that when it comes time to attach it to some boots I can have some flex when I walk.

So that's it friends, on to sanding, filling, sealing and painting! This project is really starting to feel real.

I'm back again with another fast and furious update!

First I did a quick test fit of all my completed pieces which was awesome! My mobility is not stellar as I am a wide boi. But I mean I can walk around and hold things which I guess mission accomplished.

The next bit is this INCREDIBLE bucket from TurboCharizard It looks so good I cannot stop looking at it! Schankerz and Turbo absolutely bamboozled me and surprised me with this thing for my birthday. Absolute lads!

Been awhile since my last update. I've been hard at work. Once I got the armour done I had to prep for paint, man was that a long road. Took me a couple weeks to learn how to finish and prep a 3d print, lots of sanding, bondo spot putty and filler primer later and I think it turned out pretty great for my first go at finishing a 3d print.

Once I got that all ready and prepped I moved onto sanding, kwik sealing then leak sealing. I had two days off and had a large burst of motivation, nothing was going to stop me! I may have lost my sanity but I got it done in 48 hours.

With all that done I packed it all in my car and made the hour long drive north to Schankerz to begin our day long painting party. I decided to change my original plan for a paint scheme. Instead of doing white with blue to make it look like a clone, I went with the same grey as Schankerz but will continue on with blue and kinda do a halo/501st legion kinda mashup. It took us from 3PMish to 11PMish but we were able to get 2 black coats and then 2 grey coats, and HOLY CRAP does it all look so good! This is really all starting to come together and I am pumped to do the finishing touches and then rig it all up! We're in the endgame now!

Now just on to add a blue paint scheme, some other final painting touches and then boom onto some rigging and we're good to go!

Been hard at work finishing the paint job of my armour.
First was getting the base design and paint job down. Generally stuck to my plan. I also added in paint chips just using little ripped up painters tape when painting to make what I think looks pretty sweet.

Once I got that all in, painted in some details, I went to absolute town on weathering. Brushed in some silver to add in a scraped up effect, then did what felt like a dozen blackwashes to finally get to my desired look. Over all I'm absolutely happy with how it has turned out!

After all that I attached the back of the helmet with some stretchy strap material and some magnets so that I can get my head in and out of the helmet.

While I've been waiting for my visor coating to arrive I started tinkering with adding some lights to the side of the helmet

Some great progress was made in the last couple weeks and man once that visor material arrives, I'll be able to finish rigging everything and will have something wearable! I am more than on schedule for Montreal comic con and can't wait to start wearing this thing!

I also forgot to mention that I built a simple Halo 3 BR over the past two days just so I can have a good rifle prop to hold. The photos are attached to the last reply but forgot to actually write anything about them

Here we are again folks! I have continued on with my fast and furious costume building and present something exciting!

She's here and she's beautiful! I started this whole process around February of this year and now I am at, what I consider to be, a con ready state! Thanks to all you folks for the amazing resources and knowledge that you have here. I seriously couldn't have done any of this without the help of this incredibly welcoming community!

On another note I also took some time to mount in one fan and some lights on the side of the helmet. I added the fan to keep me cool and the lights to make me look cool B-). The whole setup is pretty jank and I'm not super proud of it, but I'm the only one that really has to look at it (and everyone who reads this I guess) and it works well enough so it's good enough.

I also found some containers that perfectly fit my costume minus the helmet so that a dub


In conclusion I'm thankful for all of you and I'm now super pumped for Montreal Comic Con! Stay tuned more pictures to come and I'm sure I'll keep this thread updated when I inevitably decide to change something on my cosplay!
