Haha, you should watch it. It's just plain rediculous. It's just him point at a piece of paper with the drawing of the blade on Altair's forearm. He taps it and draws some lines, but nothing really helpful. At first, I'm like does he have his mic turned on, and you can hear the paper russle at the beginning. I think he did it just to be a smartass, haha. Oh well.

another hidden blade video
Thanks anyway, but I've seen both of those already. I think I looked at all the video's people had on YouTube for this. I wanted to make sure that it hasn't been done yet.

Good looking out though, thanks.

My friends made a few of these. Go to an asian market and buy a collapseable tai chi sword for about 10 bucks.

get the top 3 sections out, because that's just about the right length.

get a glove that goes up to about your elbow, and cut the ring finger out. Slide the blade through there, and then when you swing your arm out, it slides out!

That's fine and dandy, but if you look through the whole thread here, that's not what we're going for. Gravity powered=Fail as you guys like to put it.

Thanks for the input though.

oh that just makes me sad, guess that gravity's out of the question for me now too. anyway, i wanted to share with you my release mechanism idea. i realized how they designed it in the game and i ran with it. if you look closly at the picture i posted theres a ring on the pinky tethered to the whole gauntlet. i realized that when the pinky is extended it pulles on the tether, which releases a pin which releases the blade. that's how i'm going to do my release. the next issue is bringing the blade back.

I'll try and draw up what I'm planning, till the 3D design is done, to give you guys the idea I'm striving for. It's pretty intricate, but doable for most people I would think. The reason my 3D design has slowed of late is because I work on it at work during lunch and I've been super busy lately. Hopefully, I'll be caught up by weeks end. I'd work on it at home if I had the program there to work on it. Keep your fingers cross that I don't get another pile of drawings to correct anytime soon.

i got an idea if your still having trouble with the lock mechanism....

and it could still stick with the "games blade"

it might b a little complex...ish... lol but shoot it could spark an idea or two

have a "ring" type washer around your finger--->string or wire---> a i guess you can say switch

look at it kinda like a trigger mechanism in a gun or a paintball marker... you know how if you open up a paintball gun theres a spring behind the trigger that makes it "bounce" back? well you can run the other end of the wire to the locking "trigger" that will go into an indent in one part of the blade for when its closed, and another one in the "opend" position with a spring to keep it in the up position, and the way to make it come out is litterally like the game "flick the wrist" if you need a pic of kinda what i mean i can break out my paintball marker and kinda sketch it in paint lol

i understand what your saying reddragon but i have several issues, there are three parts to the blade, i have no idea how to lock them all, and spring load them all. magnum, would you care to give me a hand on the simultaneous release and the spring system.

yea sure gimme a lil ill give some thaughts on what you can do tommorow and take some pics of how my paintball gun looks etc. and see what i can do for ya

Redragon - Good stuff, I'd like to see the paintball idea. If it's any easier than my idea now, I might go with it.

Echo - As soon as I can get my drawing scanned into the computer I'll post it up. It addresses that simutanious release and locking issue.

Still busy here at work guys, but I'll still try and field questions as best I can. Keep the creative juices flowing and I think we can come up with a really good idea for a working model. Combined, it might even be better than my original idea.

Well, I've come to realize that the weapon in the game is not actually three parts, but I'll explain that soon.

i still have to kinda draw out stuff that im thinkin etc. but heres what i kind of realized

unless you can find a way to counteract the spring to bring it back in it will have to be gravity fed.. BUT
all you should need to do is a simple flick down while pulling your wrist up and a simple "shimmy up" as you can say with your wrist up or you can just kinda be cool and fling it out and slowely shimmy it upwards while holding your wrist out lol ill grab a vid and up load some stuff later i got a throwing knife i kinda do the same thing with so i can kinda show you better

yeah, i've been trying to wrap my head around this for a while, and as of yet i cant thint of anything other than a gravity fed firing system and a spring powered withdrawal. but i can't think of how to do it both ways. and if i spring load the firing system i'd have to pull the blade back in, and that would be nothing short of inconvenient.

"Patience, all will be revealed over time."

I sort of thought I covered this already, but anyway once I find a scanner I'll post my drawing as soon as possible. Relax guys. It can be done, otherwise I wouldn't be doing it.
