I have to agree with Awesomeness tape as a surface finish instead of fiberglassing and bondo is the worst thing to do with pepakura.

I think that if you spent more time pepping your stuff everything would come out alot better. And i have to agree with everyone else, YOu should really stick with fiberglassing and bondo. It might be expensive, but if you have the time and patience, it never fails. Just remember to TAKE YOUR TIME!!!! Just as criticism take it how you want, pretty much ALL of your stuff is rediculously crooked.

Dude, id hate to come across as me saying i know everything. Or that im the best at making armor.

But you really should take your time when you make your armor.

If you want it to last you need to put some time and effort into it.



Now i work fast, but im not a good example.I just have a knack for gluing paper (and myself) to other pieces of paper.



And resin and bondo are your best bet for making armor. They are a bit on the expensive side, and dangerous to use, but it you use them properly and safely, you wont have any issues, and your armor will look awesome.

If you don't want to use resin/bondo, go for the paper mache deal. Not as good, but a heckuva lot better than tape... Yes, spend TIME. I took about 15-20 hours pepping the HD EOD helmet. It's not perfect, but the helmet is straight and doesn't sag. I'm 16, so it's not like I'm some adult who knows it all. a paitient builder with absolutely no skill will usually be better than the impatient dude with a lot of skill. Look at Awesomeness's project triangle... that should help put things in perspective.

I agree with everyone here. If you can afford to get your stuff resined, then get it bondoed too. Tape should only be used to cover holes or keeping a difficult piece together when resining the inside.



And why would you want to make a chest piece out of cardboard when the awesome modelers here have worked their asses off modeling the ODST pieces for all of us, FOR FREE.



You also need to work on your bulding skills. Your MK VI helmet is way too crooked to be called complete. My first MK VI came out nicely(besides the couple parts the didn't want to agree with me). I don't go fast on my projects because I don't want to ruin them during the build(which would mean another bloody reprint). I just glue a couple pieces on and call it a day.



Sure, people around here don't have alot of time or money, but it's the commitment that really keeps them going on their projects which in turn makes them look great.



If you want to make your armor look good, then work harder and take your time or you won't hit a single bar in the awesome meter cause trust me, you haven't really hit the first bar(sorry, but it's true).

This is why pretty much everybody has the chestplate fully together as one piece and fiberglasses it as one piece to ensure that everything lines up and doesn't look off.

Ok BLOODY HELL. Necro posting on youre own thread, it's been dead for around 3 months, not being mean here but i read this entire thing hoping to find something awesome, you have doubble posted around 19 times, 19 TIMES!!diaryboy, you're really getting on my nerves. Try making your updates alittle more subtle or try updating previous posts instead of a massive double post.

Even though this is your thread. Please try to at least post some progress pics of whatever you're doing. Posting it once or twice every three months isn't good. Most of us do it several time a week.



You can also stop with the double posting. It does get annoying.
